silliepandaMember@Nam .. I am super tired so maybe I misunderstood your response … do you think it is OK to do Wiley MCQs .. cause that is what i meant when i said by section. Just to supplement of course.
BTW Good job on your progress! What do you have left? What is your schedule like up until test day??

AnonymousInactive@silliepanda: Oh I see O-O. I thought , you wana switch entire material from Becker to Wiley (esp when 5 days are left)- I WAS LIKE :-O
Well ! you still have 5 days and trying different MCQs won’t be harmful especially in your weaker areas.
Ok here’s the plan. I won’t be taking any day off from my work so technically I have evenings and one weekend left. I am still left with 60% of IT , strategic planning’s mcq untouched, and 2 topics in ancillary material (30 pages)
My heart is racing- I still got so much to do. Today I will be concentrating on IT …
Keeping myself cool and calm !! 🙂
How about you? Are you working full time?
Good luck to all of us!

AnonymousInactive@silliepanda – when is your exam? I was using Becker and realized i was just memorizing my answers when I was redoing all the questions – so I switched to Wileys this past week – I noted that while there were many identical questions, wiley's answer choices are presented in different orders each time you redo their questions – so it makes you think. If you are scoring well in Becker, you should be okay switching to Wileys to supplement.
E-4.5
I took my first mock exam last night and scored 72%….
tonight – redo all the missed questions and review my weak points
Tomorrow – take mock exam 2
Friday – Review my notes then my weak points
Saturday – dedicate 1/2 day reviewing and the take mock exam 3
Sunday – Review and take mock exam 4, then review – cease my study at 5:00PM
Monday – The E-DAY
Good Luck everyone!!!

sitnstayMemberCan someone explain this question to me or tell me where I can find information on this crashing process they are talking about? I tried looking it up and cannot find information on it. I don't understand it. I have also seen another question about the order of the crashing (same information) and I don't know what it means. The explanation given doesn't help me any. Thanks.
Activity, Completion Time in week, Immediate Activity Predecessor(s)
Design store exterior, 4, None
Determine types of furniture designs, 2, Design store exterior
Develop staff requirements, 1, Design store exterior
Order inventory & stock the showroom, 3, Determine types of furniture designs
Stucco the store exterior, 1, Design store exterior
Hire and train staff, 3, Develop staff requirements
Install neon signs, 2, Stucco the store exterior
Obtain financing & open store, 2, Ordering, hiring & installing
The store must open in seven weeks. If each activity costs $500 per week to crash those activities longer in duration than one week, and one week is the minimum time that each activity can take to complete, what is the total cost of crashing in order for the store to open on time?
Answer is 4,500.

AnonymousInactive@debzz I just took my first mock exam and I also got a 72%. But it's so hard to judge because those WC are “self-graded” and the solutions are about twice as long as mine…
Becker's practice exams are so much harder than the real thing! BEC is my last exam (thank god) and this is what my scores have been…
Avg practice exam score: FAR 73
Real test score: FAR 83
Avg practice exam score: AUD 74
Real test score: AUD 86
Avg practice exam score: REG 66
Real test score: REG 83 (I know wtf right)

I would NEVER switch 5 days before btw 🙂 I guess I will just start from the beginning until I cry because I can't do anymore MCQs ha ha!

sdgh1826MemberGuys, I need your help!
What's your approach in answering the questions re: Variances? I stare at my screen and wonder for so long how to answer just one MCQ. The previous sections on computations were challenging but being persistent paid off, got the hang of them after sticking it out. Will B3 get any crazier? I don't have the Wiley TB yet, but hopefully they are more comprehendable.

silliepandaMember@sdgh1826 .. are you talking about the overhead variances or the price, usage, rate, efficiency variances? The first ones I just wrote out like 20 times until I could see it when I closed my eyes. I use the pictorial summary in the example and did it just like that. The price, usage, rate, efficiency ones I just kept writing how they have the pass key set up. Is there a question in your software like by section (chapter 2 section 2) with the CPA-_ _ _ _ _ that you could say and I could look at it and maybe help you? It took me a little while to finally get it. I am actually focusing on chapter 2 and 3 today so let me know. I will do what I can!

sarah03076MemberHello-
This is my first post. I am taking the BEC exam (first exam) in November. I have now been studying for 1.5 weeks. Some days I am feeling really good- and others very discouraged. I am guessing this is normal?
I have been listening to the audio (Becker), and I purchased the Ninja notes. I seem to understand everything, but when it comes time to do the MCQ's I am not scoring well.
Any advice? Should I just do my best, move on to the next chapter, and “get it” when I review? Should I stck to it until I “get it” now?
Thanks!!
BEC 11/28 Fail 🙁

HustlinHustlinMember@ Sarah – it can be expected that the MCQ in your studies are more difficult than the test. Don't take that for granted though. If you are falling behind, I would move on and hit it again in your review. One of my favorite descriptions of this exam is that it is “a mile wide but an inch deep” – meaning you need to know a lot of the top layer of information. Don't get too caught up in any one thing, and don't let the MCQ ruin your confidence. Understand why you got what was asked wrong, what detail you missed and you will benefit.
I also still struggle with variances. The PURE (Price, Usage, Rate, Efficiency) and DADSDADS from becker helped out to know when i multiply the difference by the standard or actual, but anytime the question is phrased a little differently i miss it. Or when it gives you a rate based on a “capacity” and a standard rate I never know which to use.
And B3 is a little tricker, is has more substance and formulas. However, there aren't the painful 120 MCQ on the same kind of question over and over again. I think I like B3 a little more, it is easier to understand or make mnemonics of the formulas than twisting up variances in any confusing kind of wording possible.
I actually woke up at 5 to do my ELL today after miserably failing all week. Alarm across the room = Key.
