AnonymousInactiveGood gosh BEC can be a brutal little !@#$. Working through the Wiley book questions…. some of these questions are really, genuinely difficult. Seems like for the other 2 sections I have taken, memory was a bigger part. BEC is a high degree of memorization and a very very high degree of analyzing. Hoping they won't be this intense on the actual exam.

AnonymousInactiveDoes anyone know how hard they hit econ on the test? Some of the questions were no-brainers and others, totally confusing.
Also, I wanted to drop in and thank you guys for letting me know that Becker chapters after chapter 3 were much easier. You were right! I just finished chapter 5 and really enjoyed flying through the last two. Hopefully chapter 6 isn't too painful. I'd like to get it done so I can get some good review time in before the 29th.
I'm really worn out from studying all weekend, but feel like I've made major progress. Thanks again for the encouragement!

AnonymousInactiveIs there a difference between weighted-average annual interest rate and weighted annual interest rate? I ask because there are different answers for what I think is the same question in Becker and Wiley. The only difference is shon below and I must have missed it in the material because I can't really tell what the difference is.
Question:
“CyberAge outlet, a relatively new store, is a cafe that offers customers the opportunity to browse the Internet or play computer games at their tables while they drink coffee. The customer pays a fee based on the amount of time spent signed on to the computer. The store also sells books, tee shirts, and computer accessories. CyberAge has been paying all of its bills on the last day of the payment period, thus forfeiting all supplier discounts. Shown below are data on CyberAge's two major vendors, including average monthly purchases and credit terms.
Web Master: Month purchases – $25k, Credit terms – 2/10, net 30
Soft idee: Month purchases – $50k, Credit terms – 5/10, net 90
Assuming a 360-day year and that CyberAge continues paying on the last day of the credit period, the company's weighted
annual interest rate (THIS IS PER BECKER AND WILEY ASKS FOR WEIGHTED-AVERAGE ANNUAL INTEREST RATE) for trade credit (ignoring the effects of compounding) for these two vendors is:
Answer per Becker: 28%
Answer per Wiley: 25.2%
I'd really appreciate if anyone knows the difference.

jambuehMemberHey Guys! I'm taking BEC in t-minus 42 hours. But I'll be working the next two days so probably only 3 to 4 more hours of quality study time. I'm using Becker and took both Final Exams; here are my results:
Exam 1:
83, 54, 79. Average = 72%
Exam 2:
83, 67, 71. Average = 74%
People say the Becker Final Exams are harder than the actual exam; which I have found to be somewhat true. Also I know that some of the questions are “test” questions and will not be graded, which may also help my score. I am not worried about the WC because the first time, I scored comparable to other candidates who received a 75 to 80 on BEC. But I'm worried that I'm going to get another 71!?!?! I want this crap to be over with already. Do you guys think I'll do okay?

AnonymousInactiveSomeone please help me!! I just received a 70 on BEC and fell absoltely defeated. I have constatntly been receving 70 & 69's on BEC the past several times i have taken the exam. I just cannot seem to get over the hump. I use MDS review course and suppliment with Wiley. I feel like i know the material inside and out, but there are always questions on the exam that i get and are unfamiliar to me. Not knowing if they are pre-test or maybe just something they decided to be a-holes and make it even harder. These questions are not overly difficult, but that is my biggest weakness is to reason through the anwsers and logical pick the correct one without being familiar with a topic or something i may only have a brief understanding. I am not sure if it is just a matter of getting the right questions during the exam that work out for me or if there is something else i need to be focusing on. I do question after question for MDS and recieve scores in the 90's. Maybe i am just too familiar with the questions which is why i suppliment with Wiley to see other questions, but i am really at a lost for things to do differently. I have tried copying ninja notes and could probably put more effort toward those types of thigs as they would probably be more beneficial for my circumstances. And also maybe copying notecards more, but does anyone have any other advice to help me get over the hump???!!

GatorbatesParticipantHow many times have you taken BEC? To me, its a doozie of a section because it's the “mutt”. I thought I had passed and got a 71. I was pissed off beyond belief, but then tried to look at the bright side: I'm not taking any review courses. Just me, a Wiley book, a Bisk book, my arse and the library. All while working 40+ hours a week, and parenting a 5 and 3 year old. I only can study on Sundays and maybe 2 hours on M & W due to parental and work responsibilities, and only missed it by 4 pts. You are close! When I got my 71, I saw that I was weaker in IT, Strategic planning and financial mngmt. So I only focused on those, and studied a month, and re-took it ASAP so I wouldn't forget the parts I was strong on, Corp govn, Economics and the written portion. I feel a tad better coming out of the re-take, but only missing it by a few points, I'm hoping that tad = a 75. I get my scores any day now. If I don't pass, Ill feel back in the dumps …if I do, well, the re-exam strategy of only focusing on my weaker portions worked. Its a marathon, and if you plan on 4 months to pass each portion, whether it be one take or two, you can still fit it in the 18 month window. Don't be too discouraged!

AnonymousInactiveI have takne BEC off and on for the last year and a 1/2. I have 8 unseuccessfule attempts after receiving this last 70. It is depressing to even type that, but story of my life. I have received scores within that range of 64-70. I know sometimes i havent put myself in the best position if i would take BEC early in a testing window and if i didnt pass would attempt to crame for another section and then basically redo all my studying for BEC after that exam. This time i have decided to just stick with BEC and dedicate all my time and effort to that and hopefully that will be the extra points that i have been missing.

jambuehMember@Gatorbates I know how you feel. I am using Becker. I went through the entire course and was feeling confident going into the exam. But I was in udder disbelief after receiving a 71 several weeks later. I thought Becker did a good job of preparing me for the exam but on exam day I saw random questions that no one could predict that would be on the exam. BEC really is a catchall section. They will and do test on any business topic imaginable. All I could think about is if I got a few more question correct, I would have passed.
I would have retaken BEC in the next exam window; but decided to concentrate on FAR because I had already paid for the coupon. I spent the entire summer preparing for FAR and it paid off. I barely squeaked by with a 76. Now I have spent another two months preparing for BEC; I did all the lectures, homework and simulations AGAIN! I feel prepared going into the exam tomorrow but I am worried that I'll get another 71. I hope I get lucky tomorrow with an easy exam (if there is such a thing).

I'm done!!November 21, 2012 at 9:40 pm #383926@dsteele139 – Don't feel defeated! As far as failing goes, I would be glad to have fallen between a 70 and a 74, because that means your not too far off from passing! All you need is a little more time reviewing concepts, doing MC questions and you'll get there! Don't let it bring you down over the holidays… request a NTS and hit the books again, you'll get it!
