@Adamdenton1 – RESCHEDULE!! Especially considering the testing window has been extended. Why kill yourself to get through 3 more chapters and reviewing when you could reschedule? I just rescheduled my test from 11/30 to 12/6 because I was already behind just trying to get through B1 and B2! And I feel so much better about my study plan. Reschedule so you're can be adequately prepared and not blow the time, effort and money you're putting. Good luck!

    I HATE BEC!

is it just me or is BEC test super random. I use 3 different program to study for the CPA exam and I usually have a good majority of overlapping questions approx 80-90% of questions on cpaexcel are in the wiley text. But for the BEC section there is like 30-40% overlap.

And each of the test bank of MC i use from my 3 sources seem to be focusing on different concept that the other did not go over…

@Adamdenton1 I don't know if you should reschedule – I was on B3 a couple weeks ago, planning to take my exam on Oct 25th. So I re-scheduled, and that didn't work too well because I ended up procrastinating. I decided to reschedule again to take my exam the end of November – but partially feel like I've wasted a lot of time and money by rescheduling because you feel like that will give you more time and then end up not studying. Unless you're POSITIVE you'll be studying and you weren't able to study due to work or some other inflexible schedule, I would recommend that you just focus hard and get into intense studying mode!

@mshewlett09 my hat goes off to you! I am also a single mom but of just one. I knew i needed to spread the exam parts out over a year so i could get studying in without burnign myself out. This is my first exam part and i hope i pass.

I'm trying to study at least 2 hrs each day during the week and 3-4 each saturday and sunday. I've finised reading the book and listening to the lectures so i can feel the pain of those who are going through Becker right now. I'm starting to settle into a pretty good study rythmn and i'm abadoning my child with friends and family on the weekends so i can get some peace and quiet.

Good luck to everybody and keep pressing on!

I also rescheduled. BEC is kicking my %$#. However, it is always like that when I first start studying a new section. I guess its the overwhelming feeling of having SOOOO much new information to learn all at once. B1-B3 have been a nightmare! lol B4 wasn't so bad because I am a computer programmer 9-5 so most of that is familiar at least. Has anyone gotten to B5 and 6? Please tell me the millions of equations to remember lighten up.

BEC is all over the place!!! from managerial to economics to finance to IT to cost!!! at least with FAR its all related. with AUD you build on from one chapter to another. this has got to be the hardest section. its taking daily motivation to keep going.

I feel like in BEC, a lot of the times it is fairly easy for me to confidently eliminate 1 or 2 answers of the 4, whether they are conceptual or numerical (whereas in REG, if I really didn't know a question, all the answers looked right to me!)

My Bisk materials stress avoiding “unfamiliar terms” in answers, so I'm able to throw any of those out right off the bat. For number questions, even when the question involves having to use a formula I've not familiar with (or simply don't know), there is often a bogus answer in the 4 that you can decipher is wrong for one reason or another.

While knowing your math is important, sticking to the straight-up formulas from the book is stressful for me. Formulas can be manipulated and moved around to get to the same answer, so as long as you know how to get there, no need to memorize formulas exactly.

What I've also found helpful, and not that this is rocket science, but when given questions with alternate calculation scenarios (i.e., to scrap or re-work), always always set up two side-by-side calculations and work each scenario through

one at a time, then compare answers. Don't try and evaulate both scenarios in your head, going through each step at the same time for each – I've done this to try and save time but never come to the right answer.

I take my exam tomorrow, after much pushing-forward of it…. I'm on the last day of my NTS, lol

    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.

My quest for a BEC Rematch scheduled 12/07/2012 commences Tonight— a 4 weeks BEC boot-camp. Anyone with pointers on how to study after being kicked right in the stomach once? Any preferred study material? Tips on written communication? Anything?

    @mshewlett09

    Example 1:

Let's say you have two options: A ($10) & B ($11), and you picked A, opportunity cost will be option B's worth ($11), the one you didn't choose.

    Example 2:

If you have only one option: A ($10), opportunity cost is zero. You had no alternative in the first place.

My exam is next week, been studying hard but getting nervous as the big day comes close. Any tips for the final week? I'm going through everything for the second time.

Opportunity Cost is the cost of an alternative that must be forgone in order to pursue a certain action. Put another way, its the benefits you could have received by taking an alternative action, the cost of the opportunity not taken. Hope that helps!

Someone please help me!! I just received a 70 on BEC and fell absoltely defeated. I have constatntly been receving 70 & 69's on BEC the past several times. I just cannot seem to get over the hump. I use MDS review course and suppliment with Wiley. I feel like i know the material inside and out, but there are always questions on the exam that i get and are unfamiliar to me. Not knowing if they are pre-test or maybe just something they decided to be a-holes and make it even harder. These questions are not overly difficult, but that is my biggest weakness is to reason through the anwsers and logical pick the correct one without being familiar with a topic or something i may only have a brief understanding. I do question after question for MDS and recieve scores in the 90's. Maybe i am just too familiar with the questions which is why i suppliment with Wiley to see other questions, but i am really at a lost for things to do differently. I have tried copying ninja notes and could probably put more effort toward those types of thigs as they would probably be more beneficial for my circumstances. And also maybe copying notecards more, but does anyone have any other advice to help me get over the hump???!!

    Hello fellow candidates:

I am a little bit frustrated, tired, and sad, and need help from all of you guys. I started my CPA journey with FAR back in April/ 2010. I studied with KAPLAN review course and took the test on 08/31/10 and passed it with a score of 80. I was very happy to pass it in the first try. Now since my socre has expired, I am studying for it now and I am scheduled to take it on 11/26/12. Now I am using BECKER.Since I have started studying for FAR, a lot of material that I enconter are not familiar at all. Has the content changed so dramatically. How I can take advantage of the hard work and sweat that I put into it in 2010. Especially I need help from folks who have the same experience as mine. I have already thrown out all the material that I used then. How naive and supid I was. I thought I would be able to pass all four parts on first try, but boy I was wrong. The only thing I kept is the “power point” print outs with my notes. Should I go back and review those. Please whoever is reading this post if you can help me do so. I really appreciate for your help and hope that you pass CPA exam your first try. Thank you

Question: We can't take anything into the test center but they aren't ging to provide a pencil and paper, how are we supposed to keep track of our calculations? I know that the calculator has “tape” however what about when i want to draw a T account or solve for x?
