Recieved a 74 on my first BEC exam. The fear of under studying is immense. Finishing one point short of passing is a gift and a curse. Test date still TBA

I scored a 74 as well. On one hand, it's disappointing but on the other… heck, I began studying only a week before the exam (and only seriously on 4-5 of them, given the holiday) so it's not like I “deserved” to pass. Unfortunately, this was a very “passable” exam for me — had I bothered to memorize the ratio formulas, I would've undoubtedly passed (I blew several easy computations). No guarantee the re-take will mimic this.

When do you plan on doing a retake? Me personally 2-3 weeks tops since it's only 7 chapters and I'm already familiar with the topics.

Woah, nevermind…i read my score wrong. I got an 82 on BEC and 75 on REG. I had the scores flipped! Whew, maybe I did better on the MCQs than I thought! 🙂

I'm going to do my re-take ASAP. No sense in waiting really — everything's fresh in my mind and I know the topics I was deficient in. I doubt the test changes much quarter to quarter.

I must've REALLY tanked the multiple choice questions. According to my score report, I was stronger than passing candidates in both the simulations and writing challenges, but weaker in the multiple choices. In content, I was stronger than passing candidates in 2 categories, comparable in 2 and weaker in 1. Ouch!!!

Reporting back with a 98! — I'm inclined to think, based on my score, that some of the COSO/IT MCQs were pretest. I blindly guessed on at least 2-3 IT MCQ bc I didn't know any of the terms, and made educated guesses on many COSO questions after narrowing some down. I used becker and felt well prepared, however, I think my previous knowledge from my finance undergrad class gave me a boost. I had quite a lot of finance MCQs, which I think I would have done fine w just becker, but had a finance sim that was presented a little differently from how it was taught on becker. I was confident on it due to my finance class — not sure if it was pretest, but I would have probably missed half of it if I was just using becker.

For anyone studying BEC now, don't stress IT. Yes it's tested a lot, but it's so random that it's hard to prepare for it. Just learn what's in your material and make your best guesses on the exam. Your ROI (LOL) of time studying random IT terms is not high. Instead nail down COSO, variances, finance where you know you will get a lot of MCQs and it's more predictable. For COSO MCQs, read the question several times to really think it through.

@kenckang, Congrats bro!. Did you use the format that you mentioned last time in all of your WCs? Am also struggling which material to use for the TBS questions. Any suggestion? Thanks.

@BBHYX you are awesome! Congrats and awesome scores. It feels so good to be on this side of the exams, doesn't it? 🎉
