Just finished with topic 2 in Wiley “Economic Concepts & Analysis.” Granted I'm a economic geek who enjoyed it in college, but I just don't see how any of the questions in the lesson assessments were useful. I could see maybe a writing topic on general business strategy, but are we really going to get a question on the exam about SWOT analysis? It would be pretty laughable if we did.

What does everyone think for timing of the exam? Have candidates mostly left time on the clock?

My normal rule of thumb is MCQ's I do in about a minute each. So with some buffer 62 MCQ's I'll allot 75 min. Then 20 minutes for each SIM, so that would leave me with 85 minutes to do 3 writing questions. How much time for the 3 writing questions do you need? If only an hour or less then probably can take a lot of time on MCQ's and SIMS.

    Ask the NINJAs:

    1) What is the Recommended CPA Exam Study Time Per Section?

    2) Do you Really Need to Take CPA Exam Notes?

@defo would you recommend just using Wiley? I made a 63 then a 65 taking BEC and I was using just Roger.I'm debating if Wiley can take me over this set back.

@houston2017 I have felt extremely prepared using only Wiley for the first 3 exams I took (passed FAR & AUD w good scores, and felt like I passed REG). But BEC I haven't been very impressed so far (I'm through 3 of the 5 topics of study). I've seen many on here recommend NINJA to supplement the studies.

Previously I would've bought the MCQ's add on but now it's not an option and it's more expensive to do so on here. So I'm debating whether to do it because I'm not feeling all that great about the preparation from the instructors in Wiley.

    Hi All,

Can somebody please explain to me in Becker book Budgeting part 2, “an inventory increase of 25k, along with projected cost of good manf of 365k equals to 340,000 COGS. I know they take 365-25, but can somebody explain why? Thank you!

@CPAHenry I may be wrong but I think it follows the concept that Beg. FG + COGM – End FG= COGS so of the beginning and ending increased by 25k then you would minus that from the COGM to get your COGS.

@CoachEmUp Thanks for the insight. Yes I initially bought Roger so I don't want to shell out on a whole CPA prep course again. Yeah it's a bummer that you can't just purchase the Ninja MCQ's for supplemental guidance. I went ahead and purchased the Wiley test bank for BEC since I have been reading the book for Roger again and using his lectures and the Wiley MCQ's. I plan on flipping between the two for the next 3-4 weeks before I take it again.

    @ CPAHENRY and Kev,

Just listened to this lecture today from Becker. The instructor said, “If I manufacture $365K, but $25K of that is kept in Inventory, what is the other $340? It is what we are going to sell… CGS”

It is basically what Kev said, in my understanding.

Just wanted confirm that you were correct 🙂
