Giants13MemberI have taken the BEC section twice and have scored both a 74 and a 72. I use Becker (as well as some Wiley MC?s) and do the videos, MC, and read the book and feel as if I undertsand the material going into each test. Does anyone have any helpful hints or study advice because I do not know what I am doing wrong and I would like to start passing this test in order to move on and pass the other exams. Any help is appreciated.

QladMember@giants….same thing happened with me on FAR….i got a 74 and 73 …then i spoke to my professor….she asked me how i studied the 1st time and what I did the 2nd time….after listening to me…she said “u r repeating same things…do something different….don't keep doing what u know, “….i suggest u too….look at ur score details….what r u weak at or comparable at…do those topics again and again…till the last week then review all that u already know…that's how u will get stronger on enough topics so u pass….
I need to follow this too bcoz i have failed AUD and REG…one after the other…..i ‘m too depressed to study BEC and my exam is in 15 days…….but hope helping someone else will push me into that zone too….

wendywhiteMemberYou are so very close, I'd say keep working on it and don't give up.
They recommend treating each re-take as a FIRST take – – as in – FULL on study- as if you hadn't studied already.
My advice – is what works for me… read the text, write notecards until your hand falls off (mountains of them), review them, listen to Audio constantly (when you can't really study) – and MCQ until you are crosseyed! (wiley, becker, aicpa, cpa review for free) until you have them all down pat… use the scoring to strengthen your weak areas.
I also recommend supplementing Becker text with Wiley text. I think they complement each other well.

stokey45ParticipantHey Guys I do not get this. This may seem very simple to someone else but I am not getting it.
A hospital is comparing last year's emergency rescue services expenditures to those from 10 years ago. Last year's expenditures were $100,500. Ten years ago, the expenditures were $72,800. The CPI for last year is 168.5 as compared to 121.3 ten years ago. After adjusting for inflation, what percentage change occurred in expenditures for emergency rescue services?
a) .6% Decrease
b) 18.1% Decrease
c) 38.0% increase
d) 13.8% increase
In my review material it explains how to find the inflation rate but when I calculate that I get 38% that is not the answer.
The correct answer is “A”. How ?

zxiaoMemberI calculate the inflation rate first. (168.5-121.3)/121.3*100=38.91%
Then I calculate expenditures ten years ago in last year's price. 72,800*1.3891=101,126.48
So the percentage change is (100,500-101,126.48)/101,126.48*100=.6% decrease.
Hope this helps.
