BEC Scheduled for 25th. I've pushed it off by about 4 month due to accepting a new job that sucked all my time away (started 2 weeks before fiscal year end)…

    wanted to bounce some thoughts…

    a. the vast number of formulas is a bit overwhelming. I mean, beta coefficients, standard deviations, square roots?? I am good with plus, minus, multiply and divide… this is painful… causing the MCQ to take waay too long.

    b. I normally use Becker text, Wiley text, and Wiley test bank. I have had success to date and I use the wiley text because I have found it includes nit-picky details that supplement the broader strokes of Becker. The wiley text is not as long as the becker text – so it's not as bad as it sounds time wise. Normally I pick up additional terminology, formulas, and supporting things to complement Becker. With BEC, however, it's almost like I am studying for 2 tests. The differences are more numerous than in the other 3 tests. Right now I'm 3 chapters behind where I want to be… so I may not write out those chapters on note cards – may just read & test and move on.

    c. This is my last hurdle. I sooo want to finish and put this behind me and have a life again. PLEASE let me pass this in one take and not have to sit for another exam.

Good luck to all! Hope to see you on the other side!

Already 150 down in Becker, lots of silly stuff I'm forgetting today.

I'll go do a couple sections on cpareviewforfree and score lower, but see items I have not seen before.

    BEC - 86

Ok so I just took the BEC test. The mcq's weren't too bad. I completed those in just under two hours. I didn't leave myself with enough time for the written communications. I finished writing when time expired. I accidentally forgot to put a period after my last sentence. Do you think they will take off substantial points for this mistake?

Hello everyone! I am taking BEC for the 2nd time, first attempt in April resulted in a 68… I admit I got really dejected and took the summer/fall off. Now I am back, retooling for a Dec. 2nd retake and hoping this will be the one to give me the encouragement to go on!

Question if anybody out there can help me. I am having trouble deciphering what a call option is versus a put option in terms of hedging. Does anyone have a good way of explaining? Concept not seeming to stick with me.

Luvthbeach – you mean just remembering which is buy which is sell?

My way is stupid/simple – – I think of physical actions and associate them with those words.

Call – is buy – like if you get a “call” you pick up the phone (when you buy you pick the item up)

Put – is sell – if you “put”something down – you are selling it – putting it away from you.

wendywhite- like your tips, not stupid at all!

I found one of the ?'s I was not getting :

“An American importer expects to pay a British supplier 500,000 British pounds in 3 months. Which of the following hedges is best of the importer to fix the price in dollars?

Answer is “Buying British pounds call options” so that mens that the importer can call and and lock in the price of the British points at the current exchange rate.

What would be an example of when you would want to use a put option?

    Luvthebeach…

You would use a put option when you have a receivable in a foreign currency and you expect the value to fall.

    AUD - 94
    REG - 86
    BEC - 86
