@Ty I think it depends on each person's situation! For me, I just got done with my MAcc in March. I took FAR at the beginning of May and AUD at the end of May. My firm paid for Becker, and my university also recommended Becker. Although I am technically doing self-study, my classmates and I were all given a recommended schedule/approximate timetable to follow by professors who had taught the live sessions for years. So every day I follow that schedule and complete what it says I should be completing. Sometimes I work ahead, and sometimes I fall behind, but 95% of the time I'm on schedule. I am studying full-time. My only job is to study, so all I have is free time, and I usually put in 6-8 hours a day. (It was more like 8-12 for FAR.) I put in about 250 hours for FAR, 150 for AUD, and probably about 150 for BEC so far. I learned quickly after FAR doing 8+ hours a day, every day, with no breaks was not sustainable for the 4.5 months I will be studying full-time. If I tried to take a break, I'd feel guilty. But you have to take breaks, even if it's just a couple hours of a day to watch a mindless movie, grab a meal with a friend, etc. There will be sacrifice, but make sure to find the balance! Also, progress tests are very useful to keep material fresh.

I am sure you will do great on all of the exams 🙂

@nola-girl5 I have nothing but studying for the next couple of weeks until my job starts so I'll have nothing to do but to study (with the occasional shift here and there). I signed up for the self-study and definitely regret it since it doesn't come with a recommended schedule. I tried switching to Becker live online but I was too late for BEC and I asked them if they follow a schedule but they couldn't give me an answer over the phone lol. You've already helped me so much by answering all of my questions, but would it be possible to share the schedule that they provided? If it's an issue with any license agreements, then please don't worry about it.

@Ty This was not prepared by myself or Becker so I take no credit, but I hope this helps! Becker also has a scheduling tool, but I found this schedule to be more beneficial to me.

So I took BEC back in December, but only studying for 3-4 weeks during my first month of work. It was expiring so I had to take it quick but it actually wasn’t that bad. I felt unprepared going in, but came out with the feeling that I might have passed. Of course, I didn’t, because that would just be too simple. I got a 71. So here I am, taking it again, on July 24. Unfortunately the exam has changed, being longer, questions being asked differently, etc. Has anyone taken it before/after the change? Going through Becker the 2nd time seems harder than I remember.

I’m not sure if its just overhwelming since there is so much random material not the exam, of if they’re actually testing more things. Anyway, just wondering if anyone had any tips for studying who took the exam after April 1, 2017. For example, sections to focus on more, equations to memorize/simply know the concepts, etc. I’ve been told IT as well as COSO/ERM are two huge focuses of the exam. I remember taking the exam last December having studied IT less because I figured it was common knowledge, but coming out remembering a ton of IT questions.

    Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Looks like you and me are in the boat. I have BEC on 24th, i took BEC in January-2017 and of course, did not pass. I am using becker again for my retake, just finished B-5 with 4 days revision of B-1 to B-4. I am lil confident about B-1, B-2 and B-5, becoz revising it everyday. I dont think COSO/IT is very important infact all the topics have equal weight and importance. I believe, on the basis of my last exam, if you look at the % they test on the exam and design your study that way, this strategy won't work. If you are doing 10 practice question of COSO then you have to do 10 practice question of cost accounting. (equal weight-age)

What chapter you are in? or Are you done with the chapters and on revision phase now. My target is finish B-6 by 9th and start 100 mcqs, 3 writing, 3 sims everyday.

Come on let's do it. we can do it. Slow and steady step without stopping, will take us to our goal.

Never ever assume that the enemy is weak 😉 .

If start with thinking that BEC is easy, then it will become most horrible on the exam day.

I am posting this question again, if anyone has the better method, please help me solve.

Has anyone have better method to solve this question:

    Becker B2 Module 5:

Newman products has received proposal from several banks to establish lock box system to speed up receipts. Newman receives an average of 700 checks per day averaging $1800, and its cost of short term funds is 7% per year. Assuming that all proposals will produce equivalent processing results and using a 360-day year, which one of the following proposals is optimal for Newman?

    A compensating balance of $1,750,000
    b. A fee of $0.35 per check plus 0.01 percent of the amount collected
    c. A fee of 0.03% of the amount collected
d A flat fee of $125,000 per year.

    The correct answer is A.

Please someone help me solve this question. The solution given Becker is very confusing to understand.

Look at that! No, actually I’m right about where you are. I just started B5 lectures today, should finish B5 by Saturday morning (i work during the days). Been waking up & doing as lecture before work, during my lunch break then after work. 2-3 modules a day. Hoping to finish B6 by mid-week, then start my overall review process until the 24th. Trying to get through the lectures mainly while doing some MC, then gonna go back & hammer in the details & find some sort of strategy like you. 100 MC, 3 sims & 3 writing questions a day? Have you found that to work? It sounds promising. I do need a new strategy for the home stretch, open to ideas.

As for the COSO/IT i mentioned, i found that to be heavily tested in December when I took it, then heard from two people who took it say the same exact thing. I know everything is fair game, but i’m Making sure I know every detail of B1 & B6.

It’s nice that were at similar spots with the same test dates, & I like the optimism. It’s time to pass this damn thing!
