Hello everyone! How are you allocating your time to the new 4 hour long BEC exam? Also, how are you preparing for the IT questions.

I need to pass before busy season.

    Hi all,
I just scheduled BEC for September 7. This will be my second attempt. I'm working full time and have a 15 month old.
I'm interested to learn some tips on studying for the new sims.
    Thanks!
    H

@hhirsch people on this forum and on the accounting subreddit have been saying that for the writing portion, you just need to make sure you hit all the main keywords for whatever topic youre supposed to write about. im basically going through all the writing sims that ninja provides and reading the answers. not sure how else one can possibly prepare for the writing portion. people have also been feeling like they are being unfairly tested on the IT portion. there aren't any review materials in existence right now that can adequately prepare you for the IT questions. Whether you know some obscure IT terminology is entirely up to chance. maybe having a background in IT or computer science will help??? COSO seems to be an important topic as well. make sure you know how to do all the finance and cost accounting type questions too. in short, know everything as per usual.

ok that one worked! I have retyped my posts twice already… it must be something I am saying they are not letting me post. My exam is tomorrow… any last minute suggestions or help/pointers would be appreciated! In the past when I have taken BEC, I didn't study at all for the written part.. I winged it with relevant terms and examples (that I made up) but made sure I had 3 paragraphs. I scored comparable to others who had passed the BEC exam. I wouldn't waste my time reviewing the written portion. 🙂

Try cpareviewforfree for additional IT questions! I found stuff in there I hadn't seen before on ROGERS or Becker.

the new BEC Exam will have MCQs (50%), TBS (35%) and Written Communications (15%). Anyone have an example of a TBS for bec? I took BEC in December so I didnt have them.

First time BEC-taker here… would anyone be able to give some advice/tips about how to do well on the written compositions?

Also, do you have access to Authoritative Literature during the written composition portion of the exam?

    Thanks

    Hey guys,

I'm still in chapter 6 – trying to finish it between today and tomorrow. I haven't done any progress test/mock exams yet so I haven't been able to practice what I've studied. My exam is next Saturday (in a week). Do you have any suggestions for my final week/review which will be from Monday thru Friday?

    Thanks a lot!

I just took the exam today and no joke, there were so many damn IT questions on the exam. It was insane, some of them I never even saw before. I had to guess on them. I took BEC on the old exam and the funny thing is that the old Becker book, I checked that one question was in the old book and not the new book which was odd. The SIMS were so time consuming as in too much details were given. Most of the MCs were IT and somewhat COSO. I don't believe IT was only 15-25% of the exam. It is more like 35%. Not sure on how to practice for those unless you work in that field. I'm just hoping to aim for a 75.
