    Hi All,

I'm currently studying Module 46: Cost Measurement in the 2013 BEC Wiley book. The section on By-Products is VERY small, and I'm not really understanding the MCQs on this topic. Do you guys have any tips on how to prepare for By-Products?

Thanks and good luck to everyone! 🙂

Hello everyone… I'm hoping to take BEC at the end of Feb. I just sat for aud on the 11th… Do you think its too early? I figured if I fail I could take it again in the Apr/may window since I would have my score and plenty of time to study… Any advice?

I have a question about the score release letter. I failed BEC in December and I just received my results to see how I compared to other candidates. For MCQ I was weaker in all areas but one I was Stronger. And the written portion I was comparable. I received a 67. Since I was comparable for the written portion should I not worry too much about practicing that area? I didn't before I took it, and felt I was an ok writer. And for the MCQ's should I just study all areas and take as many as possible? I have WTB and Becker 2012. About how many MCQ's do you all do a day? My exam is going to be February 7th. I've been trying to do about 100+ MCQ's a day, and a few more on weekends. Becker I'm just doing each chapter section as far as I can stand each day. WTB doing quizzes and more random questions.

    Thanks,

    Kim

It varies, I rely more not on the number of mcqs but if I understand the material so If I do 50 and can remember what I learned I am good. But if I do 100 and 5 minutes I couldn't tell left from right for me thats not a good day.

I think the most important is remembering the info test day.

Took BEC today and once again I felt horrible walking out of prometric.

50% of my mcqs were calculations which I'm very good at it, and the rest were conceptual which I hate a lot.

Written communication is not something I'm proud of because I have also been weaker on that side

Despite writing a whole lot of bs in response to the written communication, I still couldn't finish one of them but I'm not worried about it.

I'm only worried about my performance on the mcqs because that's where all my strength lies. Ugh, I believe BEC is going to follow me till the last minute of my CPA journey.

    Good luck to you all:)

First time ever posting here – but read and absorb a lot. Needing some help on a question from Wiley MCQs.

Beg. WIP in Dept 2 (90% complete with respect to conversion costs): 14,000

Transferred in from Department 1: 76,000

Completed and transferred to finished goods: 80,000

Spoiled units – all normal: 1,500

Ending WIP in Dept 2 (60% complete with respect to conversion costs): 8,500

If the manufacturing company uses the weighted-average method, the equivalent units for direct materials in Department 2 for the current month would be:

    A. 80,000

    B. 90,000

    C. 81,500

    D. 67,500

The software says the answer is C. I don't understand why, though. My understanding is that the calculation would go like this:

    80,000 + (8,500*60%) – (14,000*90%) + 1,500 = 74,000

The answer, however, only adds the 80,000 to the spoilage amount of 1,500. Why???

Thanks in advance for the assistance everyone!

You're using fifo method, do not use BWIP for weighted average method

    Hope this helps??

You're right. That makes sense. Yet, even using the correct method, I would think it would be:

    80,000 + (8,500*60%) + 1,500 = 86,600

That still doesn't produce the right answer according to Wiley.

    Thoughts?
