jeffKeymasterGuess I’ll kick it off!
Scheduled to take BEC on 4/19. It’s my last test so I’m putting as much study time in as I can. If I pass I get promoted, if I don’t pass I don’t get promoted, so the pressure is on!!
Good luck to everyone taking BEC this quarter!

AnonymousInactiveWe do not have the authoritative literature that we can refer to in BEC for the simulations ?????? OMG ….!!!!!!

AnonymousInactiveNow that scores are in I can finally concentrate on BEC again. I am behind but my goal is to get started on BEC 3 this weekend and wrap up that section before Monday.
@CPA4BirthdayPresent…I agree with you but I actually prefer that since it is only during the lectures that I want to read the material. I like that he explains the questions and answers as well.
How is everyone doing with the material?
I am also curious about the length of this exam. For AUD I felt the time was more than reasonable but with all the calculations in this module it seems as if 3 hours will not be enough. Thoughts?

whatamidoingMemberStarting B-1 today. My plan is to do 2 chapters a week for 3 weeks and then have 2.5 weeks for review. Putting everything into this to make sure it's my last exam.

AnonymousInactiveHaving such a hard time staying motivated for this one. I don't know why. You'd think it would be easier to focus since it will (hopefully) be my last one.

ColoradoCPAMemberI got this question and I am puzzled with the answer. Could please somebody help to understand where $27,000 EBIT came from? How was it calculated? Thank you!!!
A company currently has 1,000 shares of common stock outstanding with zero debt. It has the choice of raising an additional $100,000 by issuing 9% long-term debt, or issuing 500 shares of common stock. The company has a 40% tax rate. What level of earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) would result in the same earnings per share (EPS) for the two financing options?
the answer is An EBIT of $27,000 would result in EPS of $10.80 for both. The requirement is to determine the level of earnings before interest and taxes that would result in the same earnings per share under the two financing options. This answer is correct as calculated below.
Alternative 1βissuing long-term debt
Interest = $9,000 ($100,000 Γ 9%)
Earnings = $18,000 ($27,000 EBIT β $9,000 interest)
before taxes (EBT)
Taxes = $7,200 (40% $18,000 EBT)
Net earnings = $10,800 ($18,000 EBT β $7,200 taxes)
EPS = $10.80 (net earnings $10,800 Γ· 1,000 shares outstanding)
Alternative 2βissue additional stock
Net earnings = $16,200 [$27,000 EBIT β taxes $10,800 (40% Γ $27,000)]
EPS = $10.80 (net earnings $16,200 Γ· 1,500 shares outstanding)

plaster3MemberI would rather have Peter Olinto for 12 hours than another FULL COURSE of TIM GEARTY like in Audit. They should really split them up like they do in FAR.
I swear, if I heard Tim say, “again” for the millionth time during a lecture I might have eaten my highlighter.
In the middle of final review now for Becker BEC. Those first three lectures are a real doozy.

TootsieMemberStarted B1 a few days ago and it's mostly a review for me, which is very good. π I'm on the COSO section and hope to be done reading and taking notes for B1 by Friday. Then I'll do the Becker practice questions over the weekend. I can't wait to get to the calculations. I know that sounds weird, but I really like doing them.
On another note, daylight savings time is killing me. I am going to be so tired tomorrow, arggggg.
