    Guess I’ll kick it off!

Scheduled to take BEC on 4/19. It’s my last test so I’m putting as much study time in as I can. If I pass I get promoted, if I don’t pass I don’t get promoted, so the pressure is on!!

Good luck to everyone taking BEC this quarter!

Thats a really good idea. I plan on listening to written communication again also towards the end. Leaving IT till than seems like it might help, however since I'm moving through the material so fast I am hoping it all stays fresh!

I see the IT section referenced in recent posts and I agree. It’s definitely like WTF type of section. For example, a question from the recently released AICPA questions is below. I would’ve had to guess on this question. My review materials wouldn’t of helped at all. To make matters worse, in my previous attempts I didn’t get that many IT questions so they were worth quite a bit and I really had to nail those questions, which I’m sure I didn’t.

A company's web server has been overwhelmed with a sudden surge of false requests that caused the server to crash. The company has most likely been the target of:

    a. Spoofing.

    b. Piggybacking.

    c. An eavesdropping attack.

    d. A denial of service attack.

    The correct answer is D.

Just like others have mentioned, I also forgot some of the earlier chapters and I’m sort of freaking out that I won’t remember everything, even the more relatively simpler concepts. However, I will be cramming 8-10 hours a day starting on Wednesday as I take my test next Monday so hopefully this eases my worries. .

Make or buy, sell at split off or manufacture further, and variance analysis are the vein of my existence right now. I had the absolute worst cost accounting teacher. I really hope I can pull it together and power through this stuff. I miss pension/lease accounting at this point… lol

Coming from a non-Econ background is causing me to get crushed on these Econ-related questions. Can someone dumb this down for me?

A short-term speculative rise in the worldwide value of domestic currency could be moderated by a central bank decision to:

    a] Increase domestic interest rates.

b] Sell domestic currency in the foreign exchange market.

c] Sell foreign currency in the foreign exchange market.

d] Buy domestic currency in the foreign exchange market.

Simply providing the correct answer is great, but I'm more concerned with the theory/concepts behind it.

    Thanks!

I'm feeling a little more positive after this weekend of extreme studying. I put in about 14 hours on Saturday, 12 hours Sunday, and 10 hours today, I've gotten through B1-B5 first run through of MCQ's (homework sets) and two progress tests over the past two days through B4. Tomorrow I will start of with a progress test of B1-B5 before I start B6 set of MCQ. Since I'm back at work tomorrow B6 may take me 2 nights to get through finishing Wed. That leaves me Thurs through-Thursday to do all inclusive reviews before my test next Friday. With the additional days (2-3) that I plan to take off between now and exam day, after i get through B6, I'm estimating around 60 hrs or so of all inclusive review ( identifying weak areas) to be ready for this exam. I'll fit in written communication review at the end. I hope it's enough, I'm not averaging all that great yet on the MCQ's

    AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
    BEC - 79 - Pass
    FAR - 70,82 - Pass

So1913: Sounds pretty solid. I am not loving B3 right now… In fact I had to hide all sharp objects as I wanted to gouge my eyes out as I was doing the MCQ (okay maybe not.. but still) I feel defeated because on all the other prior exams the material came back really well. Putting in another long day tomorrow and hoping for some small wins to boost my morale. Ready or not… here I come May 28th! BTW about the Written Communication, I feel like its more important to focus on writing structure, etc… than actually studying random concepts to write about, correct?

@bcjasper09 I so think B2 is the worst of them thought! That's what I hear about written, I hope that is the case. I think I'm a pretty good writer and just hope I can bs the concepts enough to get the points. Keep pushing, as of a few days ago when I posted i thought it was going to be impossible for me to get through this stuff, but put in the work and moving along…

    AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!

Your right. My mistake.. I'm so delusional that I had mistaken B2 for B3. I am pretty sure if variance analysis is a heavily tested topic you can chalk me up to a failing score. I typically salute Becker for providing thorough review of topics but I must say I don't really understand their approach to those topics.

I am not happy about how becker approached B2 either. I mean, mnemonics have a place and can't work for everything. How about helping to grasp the concepts and ideas and then we could apply it, whatever the question?! I also have Roger and thought I'd go listen to him but after about a minute I gave up. Lucky for me I had learnt most of the material before so I just had to recall what I learnt before. Same with B3…I am wondering how they even came up with some of these formulas because I know there's simpler ways of explaining CAPM and the like. I am just thankful that this is like review for me because I think if I was learning this for the first time, there's no way I could even think about doing BEC in a month.

I'll be back at it again tomorrow!

I agree, Theo. I learned most of it last year too… but my teacher was horrible so I basically taught myself. It is coming back… slowly… but I am frustrated with Becker at this point. Especially because there are like 2 sets of MCQ's that are “Extra” that they want you to purchase for like 50 bucks each!

I was not aware of the extra MCQs from Becker but I do have the Wiley test bank as a supplement. My goal is just to grasp as much of the material as possible to pass. Then I will just do MCQs until exam day. What are you tackling today @bcjasper09?

Me too, as I've seen from others posts it seems like you get a luck of the draw as to what your test is going to be focused on. Thankfully no one has mentioned a heavy emphasis on flexible budgets or variance analysis. I am finishing up B2 this morning than starting B3. On the other exams I felt a compelling desire to actually do really well.. BEC on the other hand, I just want a 75. This stuff isn't my forte thats for sure.

Guys Im so confused: Can Someone detail the formulas / Steps to Solve

If an increase in government purchases of goods and services of $20 billion causes equilibrium GDP to rise by $80 billion, and if total taxes and investment are constant, the marginal propensity to consume out of disposable income is

    a. 0.75

    b. 0.25

    c. 1.25

    d. 4.00

    @1BENTCPA

    Well there's two formulas.

Formula 1: (1/MPS) X Change in Spending = Increase in Equilibrium

Formula 2: Marginal Propensity to Save (MPS) + Marginal Propensity to Consume (MPC) = 1

    Well solve Formula 1 first.

So let's plug in what we know for formula 1.

    (1/MPS) X $20 Billion = $80 billion

Here is like solving for X and the formula gets simplified to MPS =$80/$20 = .25

Can you plug this answer back into formula 1: (1/.25) X $20 billion = $80 billion

Now, we'll plug the answer from Formula 1 into Formula 2.

    .25 + MPC = 1

Once again, simple algebra leads to MPC = .75, which I believe is the answer.
