    Guess I’ll kick it off!

Scheduled to take BEC on 4/19. It’s my last test so I’m putting as much study time in as I can. If I pass I get promoted, if I don’t pass I don’t get promoted, so the pressure is on!!

Good luck to everyone taking BEC this quarter!

Well completed the first lecture for corp governance.. and I must say I feel as if it is dejavu to Audit… which is a good thing! But I must say, its a little more exciting than getting a tooth pulled. I hope this gets better!

So this is where I stand:

I've gone through all lectures and notes, and now going through MCQ section by section. I just finished up B3, B1 and B2 were completed over this past weekend. I feel like I totally forgot anything that I temporarily remembered from B1 and B2. I only have 13 days till my exam. I figured tomorrow I'd do a bunch of progress tests that cover B1-B3 although I've only been scoring round 50-60% on first run through of MCQ 🙁 Given where I am at, I just don't know if I have enough time to nail this material 🙁 I work full time, but have cleared my weekends to study (12 hours today so far) plus a vaca day here or there. I'm feeling the pressure…hopefully B4-B6 won't be so hard for me to grasp the concepts and I can finish by friday, giving me one full week to review everything before exam day (5/17).

    I just don't know 🙁

    AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
    BEC - 79 - Pass
    FAR - 70,82 - Pass

at this point, I would just do non-stop MCQ's. Write down every single incorrect questions and its correct answer, and study those sheets everyday for an hour.

This helps you to focus on area's that need improvement rather than everything.

    AUD - Jan 9,13 Pass
    REG - Aug 30,13 Pass
    BEC - Oct 26,13 Pass
    FAR - Dec 4,13 Pass

So1913….I know the feeling…i study one chapter and forget the previous section! I went back to corporate governance 3 times already! Still on B2!!! 🙁 I don't know if I can get through all the material by 5/30! I should have given myself more time. Studying with an 11 month old and working all day is harder than I thought.

Thanks AnnaMay!!! Enjoy your exam freedom!!!! 🙂

@Shanta_J Congrats on your auditing score!!!!!!!!!!!! It's so exciting to think that if we can pass BEC at month end that we only have FAR to go and could be done in time to enjoy the summer! First things first, however! 😉 I'm using a combo of the Wiley Text and materials from my local review course, so I'm a little out of sequence from the book! The topics I've covered to date are Corporate Governance, Internal Control/Coso, Enterprise Risk Management, and IT. Econ, Financial Risk Management, and Capital Budgeting are on deck for this week! How are you doing? Where are you at in the materials?

Good luck everyone and keep up the good work!!!!!!! 🙂

@MintsRGood…. I KNOW!!!!!!!!!!! AND THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I'm up to Chapter 4 (IT) in becker… I won't be starting Chapter 5 until this upcoming weekend… I need to go back and hit Chapter 3's formulas again (Financial Modeling Projections and Analysis) to make sure I understand them then review the IT section…………

I took a peek at Chapter 5… Economics.. .and looks like I have more formulas that will become my best friends!!! I'm a little nervous about the writing portion.. but I guess we will just have to wait and see!

We are almost there Mints!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My FAR isn't scheduled until August.. but I WOULD LOVE to get it done by or on my birthday July 23.. but from what I hear… FAR is a real life horror story… ahahahaha… Guess.. I need to get through BEC first before I think about moving that test date up!!!

***oh yeah, I also bought the course material from cpareviewforfree …. it IS VERY HELPFUL … feels like it really clarifies some of the grey areas in Becker for me!

Would anyone recommend getting the supplemental questions from Becker for BEC? I just noticed they appeared in the list of questions. I've completed all the questions already and have been going through them for a second and third time.

I'm getting nervous, Finding out I failed FAR last Friday has been a killer. Third failing score in a row. I NEED to pass this for morale's sake :/

I'm sorry, but this IT stuff is absolutely RIDICULOUS!!! The stuff that's covered in the appendix of Becker B4, come on!!! I don't understand WHY we are being tested on this level SMH! Some of these MCQ are out of control.

    AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
    BEC - 79 - Pass

Finished B1 today. Currently doing the written communication lecture of Becker. I was doing solid (despite Tim's reference to “texting lingo”) until he started saying “Da Bomb.” I feel like these less than full credit responses were written by 4th graders. I am still nervous about the technical depth of some of their full credit answers.

@so1913 Ugh I know exactly what you mean with those! I still need to go through those questions again in the Appendix because it rushed through it. It seems so very ridiculous. How heavily tested is all that?

@so1913 IT for this section is so strange…some of the material presented is new to me, for example the database structures, EDI, COBIT standards, and I'm taking it very seriously. However I actually laughed out loud at my desk when reading the list of “output devices” and found a reference to a microfilm and microfiche! PS: thanks for pointing out what a monitor does for me but at the same time you want me to be able to give you the paramaters for EDI, VAN, and EUC? Bizarre!

BEC is the “hot dog” of the CPA exam because much like how hot dogs are made, all of the leftover and random parts that don't belong anywhere else seem to find their way into BEC! 😉

How is everyone studying for the written portion. Becker has simulations that address topics and have you write your responses. I am thinking about circling back and hitting those in my review week. To be honest from what others have said you basically just have to BS your way through them?

I am finishing off B2 MCQs and will listen to the first B3 lecture. I am skipping all SIMS for now. I also plan on doing the IT lecture at the end before I listen to the written communication lecture (which will be last). The lectures have definitely picked up from B1 but based on the comments in here about IT, I don't think I want to tackle it until the end so it stays fresh.
