jeffKeymasterGuess I’ll kick it off!
Scheduled to take BEC on 4/19. It’s my last test so I’m putting as much study time in as I can. If I pass I get promoted, if I don’t pass I don’t get promoted, so the pressure is on!!
Good luck to everyone taking BEC this quarter!

so1913ParticipantI just finished all the Becker BEC lectures and notes last night. I have 25 days until my exam. Tonight I start tackling the MCQ's and trying to figure out how to approach it. I know it's topic by topic, but how many topics should I shoot to cover in a 3 hour study session? For example (just throwing these numbers for illustration purpose) I can spend the entire 3 hours doing 50 questions for one topic, or can do 50 questions in groups of 10 covering 5 topics. I'm just not sure how to approach this part of the review…
AUD - 90 Pass
REG - 70,61,81 Pass DONE DONE DOOOOONNEEE!!!!!!!!
BEC - 79 - Pass
FAR - 70,82 - PassApril 24, 2013 at 12:22 am #416321
GoodsParticipantI have my test on 5/2. Studying has been going well with the exception of trying to get the Variances locked down. I understand the more simple variances, but the two and three-way variances confuse the F*** out of me. I'm hope I see 1-3 questions on the subject during my test.
FAR - 72, 69, 88 (Nov 2012)
AUD - 89 (Jan 2013)
REG - 85 (Feb 2013)
BEC - 83 (May 2013)

MelansMember@CPAHopeful – I feel the exact same way, especially the managerial stuff. Totally my least favorite followed by economics.
@Fading. I just started yesterday, and yes, I don't believe anyone is sugar coating it- not too mention I have not even gotten to the parts most are complaining about.

whatamidoingMemberCan anyone explain the mfg. OH variances? I memorized that 1/2/3 way variance chart (ABABSA) thing by Becker, but I never understand when to use which formula in an answer.
F - 85 (11/2012)
R - 87 (1/2013)
A - 92 (2/2013)

AnonymousInactiveProduct cost is dm + dl + oh, right?
To get the variances with dm and dl, use PURE DADS
How about the variances in overhead? Then use the one, two, and three way variance.
A is for actual overhead consumed– usually this is given in the problem.
BA for budgeted overhead rate at actual quantity of cost driver
Example. Standard overhead rate is $1.50 and the actual quantity of hours (cost driver) is 500 hrs… So multiply those two and once you get the product, add it to fixed cost
BS is for budgeted overhead rate at standard quantity of cost driver
Just remember that BS and BA will use the same overhead rate. The difference is just the quantity of the cost driver — for BS use the standard quantity.. For BA use the actual quantity
A is applied overhead…They will give you a standard overhead rate which you will multiply to the actual quantity of hours the cost driver

noluckcandidateMemberAfter I finish lectures I will have 19 days for mcq (Becker) and rewriting the Ninja notes – will this be enough time? Any suggestions on how to best use the 19 days (working f/t)?

whatamidoingMemberThank you AnnaMay! Your post along with hitting more practice questions has definitely helped me understand it more.
I've done 11 100Q progress tests the last few days (with another 10 or so on tap the rest of today and tomorrow) and I'm averaging an 86 on them. If my exam is IT or financial valuation heavy, I'm screwed.
Going to attempt the first final exam tonight but I'm sure I'll do terrible on it. I never did well on the Becker final exams, with the exception of Audit.
