Material: Ninja MCQ, Ninja Plus videos (BISK), Becker book, mcqs, and flashcards.

My exam is scheduled for the second week of December. What do you guys think is the most efficient way to study and pass BEC with the material I currently have while working full time M – F.

Have you started studying yet? I'm taking in December too and just started yesterday with Becker. Thinking I'm gonna add the Ninja MQ too. Gotta crank for the next month and a half outside of work andon the weekends

@needsa75 I've just been watching the Ninja Plus videos and typing notes while watching. I am only up to ‘Financial Reporting Oversight' of the Corporate Governance section. Was planning on starting Ninja MCQs this weekend. I'm wondering if the Ninja Plus videos and going MCQs will be enough??

I'd be interested in getting more info on this too. I am in the same exact boat as *aimhigher except I was going to just read Ninja notes section by section along with the MCQ section by section.

What I did (and it seemed to work – waiting on score) was go through the material once and then spend three days before the exam re-doing all of the MC's I thought were important in every section. Those three days sucked but no amount of time / preparation can get you across the finish line like three days of cramming MCQ and learning from the ones you missed.

Hmm.. 2 months for BEC is a little overkill. I know the subjects are varied but still. I think effectively, 5 weeks good, depending on how you portion your studying. NINJA MCQ should put you through the test. I know that's why I passed, maybe a LITTLE WTB.

For BEC, I took it first. So it was trial and error in terms of studying methods. I listened and wrote notes, did MCQs cumulatively as I finished all the chapters. I REWROTE the notes all over again (it was a short section so this was doable). Then I went on the MCQs to do as much as I could.

I wrote out ALL the formulas a couple of times to memorize them all. I made it a point to write out the formulas when I did the MCQs as well, to retain them better.

I'd have to agree with the above. two months is a little much. When I did becker, I went through two chapters a week leaving two (and a few days depending on how motivated I was ) for the final review. During this time, I re-wrote all the notes which really helped it stick. Also during this time, going back through all the MCQ for the applicable chapter that I re-wrote the notes for really solidified the material for me.

I studied for 3 weeks for BEC while working full-time, so your schedule is definitely doable.

My advice is hit the cost accounting and finance formulas pretty hard. I did this by writing out the formulas in a way that made sense to me and then developing a strategy for solving the MCQs related to these. What I mean by “strategy” is come up with a set of steps for solving the problems (that is logical to YOU), learn how to pick out the pieces of information in the question that are required for completing those steps, and then drill that process over and over again until every time you see one of those questions, you know exactly what to do. Repetition is key. Remember that MCQs are a bigger part of your total score on BEC than on the other exams, so you need to get these right.

The rest of BEC is less practice than memorization, but focus on COSO, IT, and the impact of changes in foreign exchange rates.

And don't worry about the written communication part unless English is not your native language and/or you have really poor writing skills. The only thing you really need to know here is how this section is scored. Basically, if you know how to use paragraphs and know how to use keywords to demonstrate your comprehension of the question and your knowledge of the topic at hand, you're good to go. IMO, there is no need to practice actually writing these things for most candidates.
