Hi,

Just wondering if BEC writing components are strictly from BEC materials or do the topics come from other discipline as well such as AUD, REG and FAR? I noticed last year’s BEC had pensions topic on it.

Won’t it be a disadvantage if you only prepare for BEC but it tests you on topics from other disciplines?

The WC can be from anywhere from what I understand. Remember they aren't graded for technical accuracy. You have to have some sort of idea what you are talking about but you don't have to be precise. The computer is looking for key words. If you get one on Price Variances and you start rambling on about depreciation expense then the computer is going to grade you harshly. I haven't seen anything stating the topics are specific to BEC. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I am with Kricket….I beleive they can come from anything.

FAR - Attempt 1-(70)...Attempt 2 (Passed Baby)-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.
AUD- Attempt 1-Passed!!!!!!!!! )-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.
REG-Attempt 1-(73)...Attempt 2 (Passed Baby)-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.
BEC-Attempt 1-(71)...Attempt 2 (Passed Baby)-Praise the Lord-Couldn't have done it without him.

I just took BEC on Saturday and I can definitely tell you they can come from anywhere.

WIthout divulging any specifics: only one of my three WCs was directly out of BEC. One was straight out of FAR, and one was sort of general financial/accounting knowledge that wasn't totally specific to any exam.

However, as mentioned above, they're looking more at your writing ability. I've read (on A71, I believe) that you can screw up all your facts, but as long as you stay on topic and write well you will receive full credit.
