Is the literature helpful when working simulations on the actual exam. The lit seems almost useless when practice BEC sims through wiley test bank.

The literature? What do you mean? Like the authoritative guidance? If so, heck, I didn't even realize that was provided when I took my actual BEC exam. Granted, given that the topics are more generalized in nature, I don't know how much it would have helped, but I would kick myself I actually could have used the authoritative guidance when doing the written communication section.

I looked to the AL once for help, but could not find the information on the topic needed. It just wasted precious time needed to complete the exam.

I passed BEC on the first try and didn't look at anything when doing the written communication. It wouldn't have helped. That section focuses on whether or not you can write a decent response using appropriate grammar, coherent thoughts, etc.

Practice writing meaningful, properly structured & timed memos on accounting subjects (practice sims provided by your software) and you will be golden.
