BEC piece of cake???

I have constantly hear people saying BEC is relatively easy comparing to other sections. However, as I am preparing to take BEC tomorrow, I don’t feel as prepared as the other ones, mostly because I don’t know how to prepare for the written communication portion. Econ. and IT was easy for me, but cost accounting and finance really kicked my a$$ when I was doing MCQ on Beckers. Any one feel the same way? How should I approach my final reviews?

Review notes, bolded words, charts, mnemonics.
    Briefly review formulas.
AICPA sample test is a must if you haven't done it already.

I would not say its a piece of cake, but if you are properly prepared you should be fine, based on your 84's for FAR and AUD.

Most of the accounting concepts should be somewhat second nature to you at this point, especially after FAR.

Please do not take BEC lightly. I just came out from taking BEC and I will say that the mcq were much harder than my FAR mcq. Not a lot of calculations but a lot of conceptual stuff where every answer looked right. It was a struggle.

I don't think any of them are really a piece of cake, but relative FAR/AUD/REG it is easier. As Recked pointed out, you clearly know what you're doing / what method of studying works best for you with two 84s. Treat it the same as the others and you will be fine.

Yeah, it definitely was cake compared to the other exams. I studied BEC mcqs for 9 days and managed to squeak by with a 75. Study, practice and pass. During the exam, the questions were different than my study questions. I walked out thinking I failed.

Right??? I completely agree. People act like BEC is MUCH easier than the other 3… I think it is just as complex in its own way. Econ, corporate gov, and IT are pretty easy and straight forward but cost accounting and budgeting??? Its like another language. I take it Monday and I am still pretty worried about those chapters.

From what I've heard of the written communication, if you memorize the correct formatting and use proper grammar/spelling/etc. it comes down to that and not so much the content you write. Hopefully.

Reading everyone's BEC Q4 Experience is really scaring me lol. I saved it for last thinking it was going to be the easiest, but I find it the most difficult to prepare for, considering there is no structure with these random topics. I take it Monday, and just having a tough time bringing everything together. I am also using BECKER, and they make all these MC so complex. I took off today through Monday, for final review, but this is the only section I do not feel prepared for compared to other 3. I don't understand how this section has the highest pass rate either. Looking for some advice on how I should approach these last few days of final review. And if I should just try and focus on my strong areas and ignore these long Becker calculation MC. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Took BEC yesterday and it was frustrating. Many of the questions were not the parts I studied. The ratio type questions were actually pretty easy for me – and they even included the ratio definitions in the problems so memorization wasn't necessary.

But it was the categorization type questions that I hated – risk management, or IT, where they give a scenario (I won't be specific) and ask what category it is an example of. For someone who worked in IT back in the 90s – their scenarios are just so very antiquated that they don't even make sense anymore. In the real world – simple follow industry best practices, and all the excruciating trade-offs they present in the study material has already been worked out.

Just curious, did you have mostly theory type questions or calculations?
