Okay I love reading the posts on this website especially debriefs from people after they take a test. So I thought I would contribute and share my experience today….. It sucked!!! I have put in over 100 hours of studying and I know a lot of the material inside and out.I completed the Becker review, Wiley MCQ’s, and studied the NINJA notes. But after the first 15 questions of testlet 1 I was pretty sure I studied for the wrong exam!

Testlet one – HARD!! I know they say that it starts with a medium testlet but I really beg to differ. Lots of calculations and some crazy theory that I am pretty sure they just pulled out of the air!

Testlet two – Medium, still a lot of calculations but I felt semi comforatble with the material.

Testlet three – HAHAHAHAHA! this testlet was basically asking me if I even cracked a book before coming in to take the exam. At this point I pretty much knew I had failed. ( yes I know I won’t know until I get my score but seriously I would be happy w/ a 60 after the test I took). I also thought about exiting at this point but decided that doing the WC would provide good practice for round 2.

WC – 2 of the 3 were pretty manageable, but the third I was unsure about so I typed some BS and had to hurry to get my closing in before the test ended, which it did as soon as I typed the last letter.

Overall – BRUTAL!! I was expecting it to be hard b/c as I’ve said I lurk around this board and read the feedback.

I am in the middle of a crazy tax season and working 60 hours a week, so my plan is to continue lightly studying (about 10 hours a week) until April and then studying hard for a few weeks before my second attempt.

@MIA4MYCPA Congrats!!!!! I am still waiting on my results. Do you remember the difficulty of your testlets by chance?

My experience mirrored the ones presented here, but my score is yet to be released, although I have a lower NTS# thank most -470.

Does anyone have a hypothesis about those delayed scores?

@Whyme my testlets were as follows

1st testlet – HARD (no medium involved)

2nd testlet – Medium – hard

3rd testlet – easy breezy

At this point I was sure I failed but I Thank God I did the WC anyway for practice!!

@ lauramarie – I don't think there is really any rhyme or reason to the score release this time around. So don't be discouraged!!

1st was hard.

2nd was med

and third was really easy

WC- was on leases , and risk and i forget the other one fairly easy only because i knew what they were asking but i ran our of time to elaborate on all the subtopics that corresponded to the question. :/

..im still waiting for my test score . there are moments when i think i passed and then there are moments when i think i didn't. im an “eeee-diot” i know i missed the easiest questions ever!!! like they asked to calculate the quick ratio.. i was pressed for time and all i was telling my self was ” don't include inventory in the current assets ” well i didn't include inventory but i added the re-estate! #fail!

Took my BEC on Feb 25 and passed (90). Studied with Becker material and have to say I found the exam fairly easy. Would agree though that a good portion of the questions was not covered in my study material (probably 10-15 questions) and you sort of had to make an educated guess based on the available choices.

First testlet was definitely easy, 2 much harder and 3 was ok again.

@lauramaria, I too am waiting for my BEC score (took it on 2/28 in NY) and my best guess is that for some of those who haven't gotten their scores yet may be borderline pass/fail so their WC's are being reviewed for points. Everyone who I see that is posting they passed got at least a 79 so i'm thinking those of us on the cusp need to wait maybe up to a week.

It was really funny, I had NASBA up on Wed. and was refreshing every 10 minutes. Finally around 4pm I decided I wasn't going to get my score and needed to be more productive. When I hit the button to close the browser, the page refreshed on its own, and lo and behold there was my score. I expected to fail so I looked twice and said “No Shit!!!”. Then I yelled for my co-worker who is also waiting for her BEC score to come in and verify that I was really seeing an 8 and not a 6.

I have a similar experience.

I sat for BEC on 02/18/12 (my very first attempt).

When I came out of the test center, I was sure that I failed.

Questions were either from COSO or Cost Accounting.

All those important sections like Economics and IT were hardly present.

Overall, it looked like a totally imbalanced test.

2 of the WCs were from familiar topics but 1 was an alien.

I somehow managed to attempt all the questions and yesterday the results said I passed with 81.

Now, 3 more to go.

Somehow I ended up with a 91 and I was sure I failed. Sorry for s-talking Becker! Like MIA said, thanks Becker for teaching me things that I didn't even know I knew. Hoping Becker works for me on the rest!!

I am so jealous of these BEC scores. How did you do it? I am having difficulty with cost accounting (esp. OH variances) and finance…Yuck!

I failed BEC with a 70 back in January. Gave it a good run but not 100%. Retaking next window with a total different attitude. Starting from scratch, all the way from the beginning even though I dont have to. Will pass or die trying.
