I am getting ready to take BEC on August 23rd. I am using Becker and have been through all the sections/chapters and am doing my review. I am struggling the most with the cost accounting stuff. I understand the concepts, and I think they are fairly straightforward. My problem is the cost accounting multiple choice questions. It seems like they are taking me forever – like up to 5 mins plus for some of the questions and a lot of them I find pretty difficult. Has anyone else had this experience with Becker BEC MCQ’s for cost accounting???

I'm in similar situation. Just hit and miss and funny thing, I took both Cost & Advanced Cost courses and did great in them. So for my upcoming BEC exam, the strategy is to concentrate on bulk of the info and stop dwelling on efficiency and volume manufacturing OH variances. I get right answer about half a time for those. Considering that the rest of materials is not that annoying, I decided to stop stressing about handful of MCQ that I got wrong TWICE and move on.

Will see how that is going turnout comes the exam day!

The cost accounting questions take me up to 2-3 minutes, whereas I am usually able to solve questions in 30-60 seconds. My one suggestion is when you first start reading the question and you can tell it's going to be a cost accounting question, skip straight to the end and find out what they're looking for. I've noticed in the Becker questions, they give you a TON of information but you really only use a small fraction of that to answer the question. Knowing what you need to solve first will make you much more efficient at weeding out the relevant information.
