I take IT over cost accounting anyday.
1. Which of the following risks are greater in computerized systems than in manual systems?
I Erroneous data conversion
II Erroneous source document preparation
III Repetition of errors
IV Concentration of data
A. I II III IV
B. I III and IV (answer)
C. II and III
D. I and II
I picked D (I and II) because I thought the purpose of computerized system is to decentralize, therefore data is less centralized in computerized systems. It also detect errors (IT has detective control) so fewer repetition of errors in computerized system.
2. Which of the following is the best policy for the protection of a company’s vital information
resources from computer viruses?
A. Stringent corporate hiring policies for staff working with computerized functions.
B. Prudent management procedures instituted in conjunction with technological safeguards.
C. Existence of a software program for virus prevention.
D. Physical protection devices in use for hardware, software, and library facilities.
Wow I picked C but answer is B? Isn’t getting antivirus the mentioned solution against virus in textbook? Answer says that B refers to “policies in conjunction with antivirus”. I think this is a trick question.
