BEC is a monster!

I took BEC on Nov. 21st. The exam I prepared for using Becker was nothing like the one that popped up on my monitor. I had to take wild guesses on a number of questions because I had no clue what the answer was. Many of the questions asked on the test were on topics that were not covered at all in Becker. If I don’t pass, and I don’t think I will, I will not use Becker for BEC again. Even if I were to pass, I still wouldn’t recommend Becker for this section.

I do, however, feel that Becker prepared me well for AUD.

    Rawr!

BEC is Becker's worst course and a waste of money! If you have to take BEC again, buy Yaeger's Home Study for BEC. Cindy Simpson is the best teacher for BEC. Yaeger costs a fraction of Becker.

    @futurecpa1986,

Best of luck tomorrow on your exam! You may get some crazy questions that make no sense or that are on topics you are unfamiliar with. Try not to let them throw you off course. Had I read more about BEC on these blogs prior to sitting for it, I might have been less distracted by the wild questions, since I would have expected them.

During my exam, there were moments when the thought of walking out crossed my mind. I wouldn't ever do that, but I did have to continually say to myself, “You can do this! Don't you dare give up.”

I really do hope each of us will receive a nice holiday present this year in the form of a passing score on BEC!

Congratulations to CPA Someday on the passing score!

I've been reading good things about Yaeger, so if I need to retake this sucker, I'll probably order Yeager. I don't know if I'll even bother looking at the 2011 Becker materials for BEC–I may just s-can them.

I used becker for BEC and found that there certainly were quite a few questions on the actual exam that were not covered by Becker. If I recall, I received 3 or 4 questions pertaining to SOX. GO figure. I still passed with an 80 ( I was part of the first wave) so I can't bash becker too much.

    BEC - 80 11/1/10
    AUD - 74 on 11/30/11. retake 87 1/18/12
    FAR - 79 8/8/11
    REG - 80- 5/9/11

Guys, remember that you will be getting a lot of the 2011 content on this quarter. Those are pretest questions that will become part of the exam on 2011….

Took BEC this morning…hmm the theory questions threw me into confusion. The quantitative questions weren't that bad. Again I have a feeling I certainly did not ace it but did not bomb it either. Guessed on about 15. Hope I guesses right.

I took BEC this morning too. I did not study, just plan on giving it my all in 2011.

I had several auditing questions. What was up with that? Well, at least I knew those. I also had a great deal about business structure that is going to REG in 2011.

I didn't have very many calculation questions at all, like 6 a testlet. Not what I expected. Almost half of them were related to the same topic too.

    CPAWannaBe,

My exam last window was very similar to yours. Not too many calcs, maybe 10 a testlet and multiple auditing questions. Anyway, good luck. Even if you didn't study, you might actually pass. I never got to reading chapter 5 or doing any questions and still passed. Hope for the best!

“Even if you didn't study, you might actually pass.”–big shot cpa

I agree with the above statement.

I studied my butt off, but it didn't seem to matter. I could have performed at almost the same level had I not studied at all.

You really do have a shot, CPAWannaBe.

Took BEC this afternoon. Contrary to what most have said, I thought Becker did a decent job on preparing me for BEC. I think the questions with calculations were alright (except for one, super wtf question..I literally was like wtf lol) and memorizing the formulas was key. I had one audit question which was out of the blue. The non-formula related questions were also alright, not entirely sure if Becker covered certain ones though because I skipped some stuff.

Good luck to us all! 🙂
