Ok, so I am feeling froggy, and I have set myself a challenge while I have roughly two weeks of semi-free time (2nd semester of grad school is over and work is part-time) to buckle down and knock out BEC. Dilemma one: Quite a few of Becker’s passmaster questions don’t have any references in the lectures of even in their book. I find that weird. I have the Wiley Test Bank, but I kinda’ thought I would use that for review purposes and not study purposes.

I am now done with B1 and my goal is to finish B2 & 3 this weekend. From what I have been reading, I should know B3 through 5 like the back of my hand, as well as memorize the COSO stuff. I can be okay with knowing roughly 80% of the other topics.

Am I missing anything? I know this can be done with the proper discipline and focus!

Dilemma Two: Cost Accounting is stupid.

is your wiley test bank online?

anyway, run through the wiley test bank at least once on all topics if you can… trust me on this. if you don't have much time then do planning, financial mgt, IT, and cost (i'm talking for wiley test bank). those will take you a few good days to complete.

btw, how did b1 feel to you? pepper your angus for b4 & b5.

    Thanks for the reply!

B1 was much less…cut and dry than the REG lectures. The COSO information and Corporate governance lectures were helpful, I suppose. But then many of the passmaster questions were worded very poorly or did not reference anything in the book or the video; my thoughts are that I will have to find some supplemental information to really get a grasp of the concept over simply memorizing the mnemonics.

The job, process and activity based costing I am feel good about. I am skating by with roughly 80% of the 97 MCQ on the first try and 100% on the second. Tomorrow, I will start B2: Strategic Planning…oh, joy.

***Oh, and I have the 2011 Wiley Bank. It's on a disc. Should I upgrade it? It seemed pretty spot on for REG.

Nah just stick with 2011 it should be okay. if b1 was a breeze for you then you're doing good man. but make sure you run through wiley too because they'll ask you those similar becker q's in a different way on wiley.

btw, i think becker's calculation questions are more harder than wiley but wiley's calculations are more in tune with what's on the actual exam.

Thanks! Those Becker calc. questions were ridiculous…possible, but they take me about 3.5 minutes minimum to get to the answer and that translates into finishing the MCQ on the actual exam in 4.2 hours. *facepalm*

Practice Becker calc questions. Although they are much more difficult than the actual exam but if you do good enough on Becker, there won't be any surprises on exam day. There will be whole lot of theory qs in mcq section which will help you save time since you'll be answering those questions in less than 30 sec. I only studied with Becker; seemed to have worked fine. When I took the final exam on Becker review I scored 73 and a 64, and I ended up passing with fairly decent score. Do exactly what gearty and olinto say, you'll pass!

I am reading the Becker 4 (IT) chapters rather than trying to force myself through listening to “that guy…” Does he say anything startlingly revealing? He makes my ears bleed and my eyes hide behind my eyelids.
