Im concerend that this part is going to kill me..

i started studying last night. Basically i cant do multiple choice until i have the formulas memorized, since every time i got to a formula question i had to totally guess since i didnt know where to start. Also, the theory type questions are very difficult since i dont have much background in these areas.

Im a little discouraged and not sure how to go about this the most efficiently and effectively.

i may have underestimated BEC. i have to pass this one in August so i have time to fail FAR a couple times without losing any parts.

    im stressed out.

    AUD - 2/27/12 - 76
    REG - 5/31/12 - 78
    BEC - 8/31/12 - 77
    FAR - 12/6/12 - 76

I left the ratios part for the last two weeks. I do not know what review program you're using, but CPAExcel breaks this part into different sections (operational, liquidity, etc) which helps a lot. Try to make flashcards and learn 5 formulas/day. Do not get discouraged and keep working on it.

    thanks terminator..

Im using exammatrix (which worked for AUD and REG), also purchased ninja notes, and i wrote out all the formulas in a notebook to study. maybe i should re-write them on index cards like you said.

    AUD - 2/27/12 - 76
    REG - 5/31/12 - 78
    BEC - 8/31/12 - 77
    FAR - 12/6/12 - 76

I think the key is studying the formulas and then go straight into MCQs, read the explanations, and repeat this until you get most of them right…Remember-when you have an income statement and a balance sheet account, you use the average the balance sheet account (e.g. A/R turnover= net credit sales/average net A/R)

I had the same exact feelings when I started studying for BEC. My worst grades in my business classes in college were Econ and Cost Accounting. Plus I used to be a Finance major and hated it with a passion – that's how I ended up in Accounting. I thought BEC was going to be my beast. And as you can see in my signature, I got a 79 on the first try. Not the best score, but I passed and that's all that matters.

First of all, don't panic. You may have to go through some of the sections 2, 3, or 4 times to finally get it. Don't try to see the big picture b/c there really isn't one… most of the sections are independent of the others.

I would recommend solving cost accounting questions with T-accounts. It makes it so much easier than trying to use that long formula.

Focus on memorizing the formulas the last few days before the exam. You will already remember some of them just by working lots of MCQ's. I had a few questions on the exam that were gimme's as long as you knew the formula.

My biggest motivation for getting through BEC was knowing there were no SIMS!!

any pointers on what the written comm questions were like? im assuming they are memos explaining things related to these formulas and other cost accounting or economics questions. any way to study that, or just make sure i write a 3 paragraph letter with opening and ending paragraphs..?
