Failed Bec once. Refered Becker but now will be doing gleim and wiley questions too . Anyone using only wiley? is it useful compared to becker? as i did not get more than 2 question from becker in my first exam. Now i need to pass bec this time. 25th feb is my exam date. Can anyone pls suggest how to preapare for this paper..Heard bec is the simplest paper..BUT found hard in my first cpa exam attempt

Do the MCq's of all five chapters atleast 3 times and then focus on the simulated exams. Do as much as you can! you will pass!!

mamta – I used Becker for this exam and found that Becker software questions be far more difficult than actual exam which you already probably know. I thought I did much better than my score. When you say that you only had 2 questions from Becker on your exam. I have taken each exam once and AUD twice and found very little duplication of Becker questions on the exams. It is very important to learn concepts and not memorize questions which can be very easy to get into a habit and do. When answering the multiple choice questions whether it be Becker, Wiley or any other, you need to be able to identify the concept that is being taught. All of the companies get their review material questions from the same source (AICPA). Undoubtedly, you will find the same questions in multiple review material. When I failed AUD, I started my review from the beginning, rewatched the lectures and did all the multiple choice questions again. Any question I missed, I read all the answers including the incorrect ones, I hit the show text button or went to the book to read up on the section that pertained to the question. When doing the multiple choice questions, think concept, think on what questions the examiner can ask using the same fact patterns. I continually did progress test and the Becker Practice Final Exams but not within 2-3 days of your exam After going through all the questions, I concentrated on my weak areas based on my diagnostic report and reviewed every question I missed during my studies. I concentrated on B4 & B5 since they each make up 22-28% of your exam which is nearly half. Any area that you are weak like the overhead variance was for me, I must have watched that section of lecture a half dozen times. Good Luck on your studies.

I used becker and feel confident that I passed…waiting for results that come out in a week. Becker seemed to prepare me just fine…granted i majored in finance and already knew most of the IT stuff, if you dont know this stuff already i think becker still does a good job. just do tons of problems and repeat them until you understand/get them right.

Everybody learns differently; as such, a review course is not going to cater to every candidate's learning style. For me, I thought Becker fell short on BEC and AUD. It seems like their lectures would present a concept from one angle, then the questions would attack a concept from a different angle. I'm sure most people can take the concept from the angle Becker presents it and manipulate it to work for them on the MCQs, no matter how the questions are presented. But not me!

Becker does do a good job at introducing you to the material, but I feel they leave ‘gaps' in the material. (aka; the problem lies within me not being able to take the way Becker explained the concept and manipulate it to use with every MCQs) So, I would recommend purchasing Yaeger CRAM (in addition to Becker stuff). They present things a little differently than Becker. This will allow you to learn a particular concept from multiple angles so that you get a full picture and more exposure to a topic. Also, just do as many MCQs as you can to broaden your exposure to the questions. I purchased the Wiley book (with the BEC cram) and they have a ton of MCQs that give you great exposure. The first time I went through Becker BEC lecture 5 MCQs, it took me literally all day…10 freaking hours! It was painful….but just keep at it and they WILL get better. I promise you! I'm sure you have heard Peter Olinto (spell?) make the comment about the relationship between misery and passing the exam; the more miserable you are, the more likely you are to pass. I firmly believe in this. I have been miserable out of my mind for the past 6 months and I have passed FAR, REG, and waiting on AUD. I'm taking BEC on the 28th, and I'm confident I will be ready.

Thanks to everyone putting ur lines for me..Yes now am more into understanding the concept reather then just doing the mcq. Highly appreciate.. am done with BEC-1 and 2nd chapter throughly with concept. Now left with 15 days..Lets see how much i can cover to pass the exam .
