hi guys, I have been a silent visitor to another71 thus far. Always makes me feel better when I read about other experiences. However, I thought i’ll contribute something today by giving you guys some feedback on my BEC exam which I took earlier today.

Unlike some other posts that i read in Jan, I have to say that the exam was very straightforward for the most part according to me. I am quite confident that I’ll pass. The FAR and AUD exams i have taken were much harder, where I couldnt be that sure that I passed. In today’s exam, my first testlet was very easy, and my second and third testlets were moderate. Not too many calculation questions. However contrary to what I expected, the calculation questions were easier than the theory ones since I knew i had gotten the correct answer when I had worked through it. Some of the theory questions (especially from IT) were a little vague. WC topics were easy. They were quite open ended.

This could well be because I have a solid undergraduate education (being a finance major), and I am fresh out of college. Still, i would say BEC requires much less prep time than FAR and REG.

    Btw, I used Becker alone.

Hey Pistol- Questions came out of nowhere. I couldn't even tell you under what topics they fell under. I took exam January 9th for the 2nd time and felt great going into the exam. Coming out of it was a different story. I said to myself “Why did I even study” I studied using Becker both times and don't feel they prepared well.

    FAR – Q2

    AUD – 75

    REG – 68, 81

BEC – 65, Waiting on Score

Pistol _ I used Becker, Wiley and Google for some extras. Some mcq I saw were pure financial questions that I have found answers in asset management writings in Bloomberg, bankrate and the like. (they were not theory questions, they required some type of calculation). They are not covered in any of the material. Unfortunately I cannot give specific. My conclusion is those must be pre-test questions.

We have nothing to worry about. We all shall pass this time !!!

@PistolPete, I went through all the Becker MCQ twice, and the Wiley MCQ twice. The questions from left field were not in either of those testbanks. But like I've said on other threads, the worse you feel, the better you did. Found out last night I passed this beast!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

    Congratulations Peanut and Candothis

These exams are so unpredictable, all the things that we go thru just to have these three letters after our names. Because this CPA material do not dwell longer in my temporary memory. For me is useless, I never contemplated doing so much studying in chasing three little letters.

Peanut – I am taking BEC on Feb 24th. I am using Becker 2011. Do you think Becker prepares you well? Did you see questions that made you feel like you knew what to do because of Becker or did you mostly feel like you had to draw on your intuition to answer most of the questions?

    Thanks

@PJ, In my opinion, I think it was Becker + the Wiley online test bank that really prepared me for the exam. If you're finished going through all of Becker's MCQ a couple of times, I would recommend buying the Wiley test bank if you can spare the money. Use the Wiley test bank during your final review. It only has 600 BEC questions, so you might have time to whip through them twice

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58
