I was not offended by Mini's post, its actually an accurate assessment. I need to do better, 70 is not good. Right now I am studying non stop with AUD. So depressed about BEC fail only because I hate studying that part. I will study during the down month of March and just keep trying. It definetly has dinged my confidence. Prior to BEC I took three parts of the EA, all passes, then REG, with a pass. Bec was my first fail in five straigh exams. Maybe I needed a kick in the butt.

Thanks Justinnin, I know you were just standing up for me, have no pity, I deserved a beating.

I agree with Mini, and givemesleep, you've done great with your prior exams. Sometime it does take a failing grade to give you a kick in the butt, that's exactly what happened to me with AUD. First time, I got a 63 (ouch) after putting in plenty of study time. Then, I reassessed my study methods. I still used the same materials, but made my study time much more effective. I just got my score, and went from a 63 to a 89. It can be done!

I passed using Yaeger/Wiley…and failed the first time around with Becker. I don't know if that will help you or not but I found Yaeger much easier to follow and more of it “stuck” (obviously). Hence the 12 point increase.

    Starting all over.

    AUD - 1/4/14

@RedStorm45, I think that BEC has so many random topics that Becker alone might not work for everyone. I used Becker + Wiley's test bank. Did all MCQ in BOTH test banks twice

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

BEC is hard in its own way. A friend of mine failed with a 73. But the second time he took it, he improved one of his weak area-Eco, so he scored 81. If you can stay strong for BEC 3 and 5( cost accounting and finance) plus one or two of other areas, you will pass next time!

@tocpa2011 – I think you are correct, BEC 3 and 5 were my weakess areas and I failed with a 70. I tried to ignore the cost accounting hoping I could skate by. Probably could have squeezed the extra 6 points with more effortt on cost and financial. My punishment is 5 weeks of solitary confinement after my aud attempt. Aud is going well except I may have a material control issue !!

@Givemesleep, Study BEC like you've never studied for it before! You will nail AUD at the end of this window and be half way to the finish line

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

Givemesleep, I had serious trouble to just focus while I was studying for AUD. I took it after BEC. I love numbers so for AUD, I had to drink a lot of energy drinks and keep doing questions over and over to just feel I was actually doing something(not sleeping). I used Wiley book and Becker. I have done all Wiley book questions, Wiley online test bank and Becker questions twice( yes I was nuts). I think I may have overdone the questions because I was confused on my exam date on some questions.

BEC 5 was easier for me since I spent lots of time to crack the formula so that they stick to my brain not matter what. Finance was not my thing in college, so I had to spend a lot of time. If you have all strong on others, just spend some more time on BEC 3 and 5 you will pass! Good Luck on AUD!

    I agree with Peanut,

study like this is your first time taking it, or even more than your first time. I got a 74 in audit the first time, and for the second time, I did twice as much as I did for the first time, passed with a solid score 😀

Mini is right, tho. I got a 74 on REG and am studying right now as if I got a 50 because a 74 is still not as close as you might think, let alone a 70. The AICPA makes that 75 a difficult grade to earn because they are requiring a certain level of knowledge in order for you to earn that grade. IMHO, the CPA exam is basically a pass or fail exam. You fail, then you crack open the books again and study hard. Don't worry about the #. A fail is a fail. Get back on the horse and study!

@Peanut, the funny thing is I was barely getting 50-60% on the Wiley testlets I was doing for practice. I did however do a bunch of IT questions the day before the exam. I'm still wondering how I pulled of an 80 because I thought for sure I failed again.

    Starting all over.

I am also very upset as I just failed BEC again! I got 70 this time and really studied much harder than in November when I got 74. Becker alone seems not to be enough. In November maybe with a little more study, i would have passed and only by using Becker. I continued to use Becker this time again and the exam was so much more complicated and of course, Becker was not enough.

So frustrated, how do you pick up yourself from failure?

I started FAR and I am on F2, planning on taking in in April, and I was really hopping this was going to be my last section.

Should I take BEC again in April or in May, after taking FAR?

I have until end of Jan 2013 to pass all sections, but expecting at beg of Sep…so depressed now.

    AUD Passed (78) expires 1/31/2013

@Givemesleep – I am bumming for you so hard right now. Seriously, I know how much it sucks to work your a$$ off and not pass.

I was absolutely shocked when I got a 76 on Audit the second time b/c I thought I got in the high 80s easy. I got my first score at a 71 and thought I BARELY failed. When I went back to study the second time, I felt like I knew EVERYTHING. I knew the Becker book inside and out, knew all the MCQs and SIMS and really felt like I understood the material. I also, felt better leaving the exam. That's when I realized what a difference those 5 “points” were.

Obviously, I am not the one that grades the exams, but it seems like there is a big difference.

I'm a hugger, so a big cyber hug to you right now! But you can do this! Keep movin' on!

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

    CPA Class of 2012 🙂

@Lady in red, I'm really bummed for you :/ I think you should go ahead and knock out BEC in May. You'll be happy you knocked it out before your bundle of joy comes in September. I think what helped me pass BEC was having two test banks. BEC is a lot of different information piled into one exam. I am always shocked when people pass it using just one test bank. I used Becker + Wiley. Wiley only has 600 MCQ for BEC, which is great because it'll give you time to go through them all twice. I went through all Becker and Wiley MCQ twice. You will get BEC next time!

    AUD 81 (X4) Previous scores 59, 72, 72
    REG 80 (X3) Previous scores 59, 60
    FAR 75 (X2) Previous score 67
    BEC 79 (X2) Previous score 58

For those who failed BEC this testing window… I am still waiting for my score (Feb. 22) but I know I failed…

I am starting a BEC movement. Who ever has to repeat BEC; lets set a date for the next testing window and take it all of us the same day…

Let join forces and see if this works. Sort of a synergy of intelligence through out the world!!! Who is with me? Cope with me here I also don't want to study for it again

    Lets set a date…

    B - 62, 70, 72, 79!!!
    A - 68, 81
    R - 70, 82
    F - 84
