I've heard that BEC is the “easiest” of the bunch. It consists entirely of MC questions. However, it covers a lot of diverse areas and that can pose a problem.

That being said, I went through the entire review course (Bisk) in a little over a week and have been practicing at a level well-above passing for the BEC exam. It is definitely the easiest section so for that I've studied.

ya i definitely don't think BEC is the easiest out of all of them. i would say for me it is one of the hardest because of chapters 3 and 5. they kill me! everybody is different, though. i have tonight and tomorrow to study before i sit for BEC on sat. at least whoever is sitting for it in march will be in wave 2 and if all goes well with score releases (which i doubt) we will find out 3rd week of march! i am tired and have no motivation. tax season + cpa exam = bad idea

any tips for me? i need to still do the supplemental questions for chapters 3 and 5, do both final reviews and read the chapter 4 IT addendum. FML. blaaah

oh and i actually have a question for anybody out there using Becker. in chapter 5 for the variances: favorable or unfavorable the mnenomic “PURE DADS” and “SAD” that says standard minus actual always (pg 64). a few pages before that though (pg 62 at the bottom) with the actual formulas shows actual minus standard.

can someone explain that to me??!!

Mponi, I remember being confused about that too. I just stuck with the SAD formula and that made it a lot easier to interpret the results. When the S-A is positive then your variance is favorable and when S-A is negative, then your variance is unfavorable, always. If you go with A-S then you have to remember which one is favorable and which is unfavorable, but this way, S-A=D is consistent.

calm before the storm! exam tomorrow at noon (in MA)…restudied 2 chapters so far. going over the IT addendum now, but i don't wanna spend too much time on it! i still have chapters 3 and 5 to review (and i haven't done the supplemental questions yet)

should i bother at this point?! i am also gonna do the 2 final reviews as well. i will let you all know how i make out…

thanks zena. it still kind of confuses me because whether you put actual first or standard first..i know which one was the actual amount…so i should still be able calculate if it was U or F depending on what i calculate for the standard. know what i mean? lol i just don't like how becker presented that…i find it very confusing and i feel with some of the questions, they changed up the formula a little bit!

    MPoni123,

When I was studying for BEC, I didn't like the Becker presented those variance either. I ended up putting the way I understood it and stuck with it. You will see it on the exam, so make sure you understand the concept,

I wanted to drop you a note anyhow and with you GOOD LUCK tomorrow! Stay calm and you can do it!

I wouldn't recommend doing ALL of that tonight! Focus on your overall review and maybe do ONE of the Final Exams. Then review some of your weaker areas based on the Final. Remember that your Becker Final exam score may seem low but you should score higher on the actual…..

I took REG today…..I am ready to go have a drink with my husband, and maybe even watch a movie **GASP!**

Good LUCK – let us know how it goes tomorrow!

I took BEC on February 26 and, overall, I thought the test was fair. There were only a few questions – probably less than four – where I had never before seen the material. Now it's back to waiting for scores…again.

I did not like how Becker presented the material; there were too many appendices with important information in them that I wish Peter/Mike would have covered. Then there was the 100+ page “B4 Technical Addendum!” The homework questions, however, I thought were helpful in preparing me for the exam. Overall, they were actually more difficult than what I experienced on the exam.

hey all! thanks connie! 🙂 hopefully you did well on REG! we should all find out next week sometime! BEC was ok. some i knew, some i didn't. lol i finished with about 15 min left which wasn't bad. i know the exam isn't adaptive. probably would have made me feel better if it were! the first testlet was pretty difficult. 2nd one was way easier, then 3rd one was in between! so i have no idea. i didn't have as many calculations as i expected, which i was happy about! the ones i didn't know i just guessed and stayed consistent with the letter i guessed lol.

connie i ended up doing one of the final exams…i did horrible!! lol but definitely some of the material on the exam i had never seen before so just guessed. we just have to wait and see!!

I took the exam on saturday. I was not as prepared as I was for audit (which I passed with an 81). On BEC I would say probably around 10% of the questions I had to flat out guess. Another 10-15% I had to make an educated guess, usually between 2 answers. And the rest of the exam I think I did pretty well on. Overall, I wouldn't be surprised if I didn't pass, but I am crossing my fingers, since I have read on here people walking out of the exam totally thinking they failed, only to find out they passed.

    Hello Guys

    i took the test today.

I think i did well, but it was so easy at the end.

Does that means i bombed it ?

I don't think it means you bombed it. As other contributors have said in the past, there's no way of knowing how you did when you leave the testing center. Also, don't forget that BEC is not adaptive; all three testlets are of the same difficulty.

Jeff has predicted that the AICPA will start releasing BEC scores on Monday, March 15. If that prediction turns out to be correct (and I hope it is!), it's possible you can have your score by Wednesday, March 17. The wild card, however, is how the extended testing window will affect score releases.
