I have been lurking on this board for a few weeks now since discovering this site. I just signed up to post because I got my score for my first attempt at any part of the exam. BEC – 81! Trust me when I say if I can do this you guys can too! I left that test center thinking I bombed!

Passed BEC on the first try with a 79. Really thought I did a lot better, but hey I passed. So, who cares.

Just found I passed BEC with an 85! Third time's the charm!

Thanks Jeff, The Wiley Book and Yaeger Cram helped me bring up my score from a 73 to an 85 (I also used CPAExcel, but alone that wasn't the best as you can see from my scores below)……

MPoni123 sorry, I am in the same boat with you, I get my result last night around 10:pm(NJ) and I failed, but one thing I have to say is that I am not a quitter and I’m ready to take the beast BEC again. I used Becker and this was my second try…Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I used becker and I passed so i think becker is worth it. You really need to concentrate on knowing all the terms and definitions as far as the entities and IT stuff is concerned. The best way with that kinda of stuff is notecards and doing the MC. I did all of my MCs not once but twice and sometimes three or four times if I was getting them wrong. It think for the cost section, I must have done some of those 10 times. My best advice about not memorizing the answers is once you get a question wrong don't do it right away. Move on to another section and then come back to it the next day (if you have the time) or hours later. I know it's easy to memorize answers but you really need to try to understand why answers are wrong/right. As far as the computations, I find it helpful to write out the formulas for each problem w/o looking at your notes when you first start doing it. This helps you to memorize it. I know it seem like you're back in grade school to do it that way but it really helps to pound those formulas into your brain. There are so many formulas that it is crucial that you memorize them especially the big ones. If becker say know this formula – You better know it! I think if you do these things, it will give you the extra boost your need to pass. Oh and as far as the IT addendum, you don't need to memorize that thing but really try to sit down and read through it. It's boring and it sucks but if you read 5 pages a day then you'll be through with it before you know it. At least then you'll have exposure to the terms and have a better chance of guessing if you get one of those “weird” questions. Hope this helps!

Got news last night…might start up my own blog called another74.com. BEC 68/74/74 I'm kidding – could never do better than what Jeff has put together here. I do have a couple questions for getting back on the horse….

I used Becker 2009 home study the first 2 times and the third spent about 70% of the time just studying the review flash cards and the rest on reviewing concepts from book/homework questions. I need a new plan as this seems to only get me to 74. I do plan on using Yaeger but wanted to get opinions since I only have until end of April to take/pass this test and it is the middle of tax season and all… Here is my action plan.

—-Know all Becker 2009 flash cards (pretty close to full mastery as is), Yaeger CRAM w/Wiley book and Focus Notes? Those last two (CRAM/Focus Notes) would be something new for me – think this could cut it? I really dont want to spend $400 plus on even the most affordable (Yaeger) full Home Study Program, especially since I won't have much additional time to devote to it.

Let me know what some of you success stories think about this.

Failed BEC, again…. I'm sincerely starting to think that this is not for Me.. I felt really confident about the knowledge on the material. I have no idea on how to start studying again for this @#$% exam.

I'm schedule to take AUD on 04/03, and I must say to self-confidence just hit rock bottom….

I don't know what to do..!! I'm just tired of not having a Life anymore..!!

Yandra, DON'T GIVE UP! I found BEC to be very tough, 2nd to FAR. Take a deep breath, keep trying, tweek your study and take it again!!
