Any advice on how to best prepare for the Planning and Measurement section of BEC?

This appears to be the only content area holding me back from passing.

thanks canttakeit!! don't forget that some of those multiple choice questions are test questions so maybe the ones you made educated guesses on won't count anyway!! lol hope you passed!

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

I SURE hope you're right! I think I'll have a mental break down if I get another score that's in the 70's but not at least a 75 haha.

Ok, it's only been one week since I took BEC but it seems so long ago. I'm going to go crazy waiting until the middle of February for that score! I'll guess I'll turn to my REG studies to keep me busy. LOL

luckily for me i sit for it at the end of january…so i will only have to wait about 3 weeks until we get Wave 1 scores!!! in the middle chapter 5. i am giving myself a goal to get through everything by tomorrow and then have 2 weeks to review!

good luck studying for REG connie!

PJL – are you using Becker? i would just keep going through the multiple choice over and over again until you really understand how they are calculating everything. maybe rewatch the lectures or certain parts that you are having trouble with. also, i am going to the Yaeger BEC cram to give me some extra help.

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

MPoni123 – I wondered where you were today! LOL

2 weeks to review will be great I think. I only gave myself a week to reveiw due to procrastinating (and the holidays and the kids…)

Did you use Becker only for REG? How many weeks did you study? You got an awesome score…. I'm ahead of my study plan right now which is great because I know I will lose steam at some point!

hahaha connie!! i am here 🙂 besides you and me nobody else is talking! yes i did use Becker for REG and i gave myself about a month? (i had taken REG last summer with minimum studying..only making it through the lectures) so i didn't have to watch any of the lectures again so that saved me time. i think they gave me a gift with that score because my exam was extremely difficult. definitely know chapter 3!! i at least finished the exam, which was good. maybe you could do the Yaeger CRAM for REG that jeff is recommending? i ordered it for BEC!

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

I used Becker to take REG as well. I was lazy and didn't really cram until the last 2 weeks. I got an 80 so I'd say it works. I knew it all inside and out by the end though.

I agree! the wait for scores is getting to be already and I only took BEC on Saturday lol

i am going to have to review SO much for chapters 3 and 5. i am doing awful on the multiple choice, too. i honestly don't see how the exam could have some of these questions on them. they are so in depth and confusing!! i took cost accounting in college, but clearly i don't remember it! connie and canttakeit – did you find the computations on your exam to be as in depth as becker??

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

    MPoni123,

When I took BEC, I went thru Chapters 3 and 5 and wrote ALL my formulas in a seperate notebook that I would review constantly. That is what helped me pass BEC.

MPoni123, for my exam I did not find the chapter 5 computations to be as in depth as those in Becker. I was pleasantly surprised at how basic they were. I don't know if I just got lucky but I that's what I got.

    FAR 86 | BEC 94 | AUD 90 | REG 85
    All done! used Becker

The computations on the exam were not as complicated as the Becker questions. I did what CPAinSC said above. I wrote the formulas out on notebook paper and reviewed them often. I already had them in my notes, but keeping separate pages with just the formulas to review was helpful.

When you are doing the MCQ, make sure you know what they are asking you for. If they are looking for say, breakeven units in $, write that formula out before you tackle the amounts in the questions. That helped me not to get overwhelmed with the MCQs.

thanks for the advice, guys!! that is a good idea to write the formula out first and then use the numbers i need in the question. (this requires me to actually remember the formulas!!) good idea to write them down separately!

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

    GOOD LUCK vishvesh!!!

I agree, I did not find that calculations to be as complicated as the ones in Becker and I didn't even see most of them. The first time I took the exam, I memorized them inside and out. Come test day though I only saw like 2 haha so you never know. I've had friends tell them they had a lot of calculations…
