Hey guys – just a quick question. I’m sitting for BEC on April 13th and realized that there’s a ton of equations to remember. For those who are currently taking this section or have passed, what works/worked for you when memorizing all these equations?

I would write the formulas everyday leading up to the exam. Best way imo.

For me, I only had a few I attempted to memorize. Some of the cost accounting/income statement presentation ones, WACC, and one or two others I kept getting wrong. The general financial ones you likely either already know (think quick formula), or they include the formula in the name such as return on capital.

Used CPA Excel solely for all exams.

In your text you may have a section that has all the ratios on a couple pages. In my Roger BEC text It was in the finance section. I basically just pounded those equations into my head and made multiple notecards of the ones I couldn't seem to remember. When I got to the test I sat down and during the Intro screen where you have 10 minutes to accept the test terms or whatever ( I sound so educated) , I wrote down every single one I could possibly remember. Funny thing was the first time I did this I passed BEC. In the 3 previous BEC attempts I never memorized or wrote even have a page of formulas.

They will help big time on the exam
