The 19th score release is killing me. After reading everyone’s post, I feel like I didn’t pass. Thinking back, the sims were long and brutal.. heavy in calculations. By the time I got to the writing section, my brain stop working. Good gracious..:/

Hi guys. I took BEC for the first time at the beginning of April and moved onto Reg. I found out that I had gotten a 74 on BEC back in May. I just found out I passed Reg and so now I'm starting to study for BEC again tomorrow. I have no idea how I should restart the study process after a 2+ month break from the material.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you relearn the material to pass it on your next try?

Well failed BEC and I have already started studying for my FAR exam which I'll be taking in a month. I probably failed because I did not really study cost accounting and it was all over the exam. I HATED that material. Also I'm using Gleim and I feel like I'm spending too much time on trying to understand the details and their questions are really difficult with a lot of unnecessary information. I feel like FAR is easier than BEC because the topics are interrelated. Maybe I should just move on to FAR for now.

@Kat, treat your retake as if you're going back to the gym after 2 months. You would start with gauging how bad of a shape you're in first. This means doing some random sets of MCQs, and just seeing which topics you still retain and which topics you need to brush up on. From there you can formulate a framework for your review. Start with the weaker areas and go towards the stronger areas. Read the text/do the MCQs/rewrite notes for weaker areas and do the MCQs/review notes and read the text where needed for the stronger areas. Go through the MCQs at least twice and definitely practice at least one or two sims in each area.

I just got my score and it was a 76. I was stronger in MCQ, weaker in Sims, and comparable in the WC. You can do awful on the sims like me and still have a chance if you can survive the multiple choice and the writing section.
    Best of luck to you!

@Mi Chan – Definitely keep going with FAR, too late to turn around now. There's some overlap in the material in FAR and BEC.

    FAR - 78*
    AUD - 66, 79
    REG - 73, 76
    BEC - 79

Got my score yesterday and I got a 72. Just gonna reschedule ASAP and try again. Not sure what else I can do other than that. Feels like they randomly select who passes around here. Or maybe the curve is higher the later you take the exam in the testing window. idkkkkkkkk

Hi all! Found out I passed AUD yesterday, now on to BEC. I’m ordering my NTS today and plan to take the exam at the end of August. I have to get mentally prepared for how calculation heavy BEC can be especially after being in the audit world for the last few months.

Passed BEC with an 82. 3 down, 1 to go. Thanks Ninja and Becker. I used Becker for the book and the MCQs from Ninja (which I feel are harder than Becker). Coming out of the BEC exam, I felt miserable as I was not able to completely finish the exam. I only had 2 minutes left to write a quick letter so all I ended up doing on that one was define th ae topic in the question according to how the study material defined it (I used the exact key words that Mr. CPA Man Olinto and had us highlight/underline in the text and threw in those words).

My suggestion to BEC exam takers is make sure in the written portion there arent any spelling & grammatical errors and make sure you use proper format when writing letters/memos. Since it is not graded manually but instead by a computer, those grammatical/spelling errors will be costly. Good luck everyone

I got a 73 in BEC. I was hoping for a pass so I can finally be done. This has been a long journey for me. I made a mistake by not practicing any sims or WC. My performance report is still not posted but I’m ready to retake this beast!

    Hey PDiddy,
How did you study audit? I found out I failed it with 73. I studied with Roger and his questions and lectures were good and i felt good when I walked out the test centre but I failed…

@chloe I used Wiley. I too felt good about the exam, actually finished about an hour early. I was expecting a higher score because like you, I felt confident walking out of the exam, but I'll take a pass any day. I took 8 weeks total to go over the material, 7 weeks to cover everything and 1 week for review. I took the week off work on my review week so I was fully engaged. I'm a concepts guy so I have to go through the pain stacking process of reading and taking notes and sometimes reading again. I didn't watch the videos for AUD in Wiley because they were simply boring plus the instructor was simply reading verbatim from the text. I set aside one day a week to review old sections that I had completed in order to keep things fresh. My weekly review consisted mainly on MCQs and a few TBSs. My final one week review consisted of attempting to do 200 MCQs a day. I would reread chapters for any week areas and did some TBS to reinforce the information by seeing it in a different format. The last thing I did is review the AICPA practice exam. I did a walkthrough mainly to get a feel for the TBSs. That's it! You can do this! Look at your score summary, identify your weak areas, stay fresh on your comparable areas, and retake it as soon as you can. NEVER GIVE UP!

@swan you gave me the courage to finally post on this blog. It seems like we have both been thru similar roads. I have been a quiet reader and follower until now. I have been down for the past two days. Found out I failed BEC yet again. This is supposed to be the easiest section to pass yet I can't seem to pass it. The first time I was able to figure it out why I failed (I succumbed to not paying attention to the clock). This time around, I supplemented with NINJA because I felt that I was memorizing Roger's answers. Now I lost my FAR credit. I am really contemplating just giving up but too much money and time on both myself and my family have been invested (practically like everyone else on this blog) and I don't want to throw it away. Scheduled for a retake in August and praying for the best.

@MomOnTheMove You can do this! I started my journey in 2016. I passed FAR, REG, and AUD, but could not pass BEC. I had to take it 4 times before I got a passing score. By then, all my credit had expired. I felt defeated. I had invested all my time and miss many family vacations to study. I started my journey again in 2017, retook each part and failed once or twice and here I am now fighting with BEC for this title. So I believe you! Let’s do this!

don't give up momonthemove, your family's faith is riding on yours. i dreaded losing credit, so i feel for you. but dont let the scope of the challenge scare you off. refocus on BEC. 1 CHALLENGE AT A TIME. YOU CAN DO IT!
