😀 Florida, yeah, I was thinking about you on that one…you were able to pull that one out in the nick of time – hope I'm able to do the same. 🙂

You are going to stomp all over REG…some stuff you'll fly through in Becker's material because we already sort of covered it in BEC. If you thoroughly cover everything in Becker's program, including their supplementary material (and I know you well enough now to know you will), you'll walk out with another high, high score – promise.

Any suggestions as I head into FAR – did you use any other material to supplement besides Becker…I'm a little more afraid of FAR.

I would definitely suggest a gleim test bank, I think they are wonderful 🙂 I didn't use it for FAR but I used it for my other sections. Other than that, I'd say do progress tests a lot. Like do F1-F4 and then do a progress exam and review any of those sections you're weak on, and then do F5 and F6 and then take another progress test for F1-F6 and review weak areas, and then do 7,8,9 and then progress test on the whole thing… if that makes sense. With Far I felt like I just had to CONSTANTLY review stuff. That and just problems problems problems 🙂 After a while they start to go quicker and that helps to build your confidence too 😀

Hey Florida_Candidate, help me out here!

I am reading (trying to read) the B4 technical addendum. There is optional enhanced reading, a glossary of probably 400+ words, and 20 or so multiple choice questions. I am not retaining any of those stuff. I learn best by doing questions and applying it. This doesn't allow for that (except for the 20 questions, which is hardly anything).

Let's just say that I threw away all these addendums and never looked at them again, and only concentrated on the textbook and the questions in the PassMaster software. Would I be screwing myself over? I feel like I'm not retaining any of this stuff at all. Like I said, I learn best by doing. When I do the regular course, I learn by seeing a question and then finding the answer in the text. I can't do that here. Reading it doesn't seem to do me any good, especially when there's like 70 pages worth of material.

what gave me a tiny bit of assurance going into my exam was the gleim test bank honestly. It has almost 400 IT questions (I never even got through them all) but i was able to go through 300 or so and felt much better. I read the becker addendum and didn't retain any of it, but I DID retain the answers/explanations to those gleim questions. I know it's like $54 but I thought it was worth it, especially if your'e going to use any of the other questions (I would have if I had time but I bought it the DAY BEFORE my exam lol)

I forgot to say: 2 days before I took BEC I won a CPA excel full course with 2011 updates (nice $1,350 Freebie) and I used their final exams as practice for my test. That was a good thing, since I got a question from the exam from the CPA excel practice test, which related to a formula that I have never seen on Becker. My strategy is to use it as a question bank for AUD and REG and maybe review some topics that I don't fully understand

Update on my dilemma…after looking online and finding links back to this site from previous posters, I found that others have done what I did. Apparently, what I did was hit Done after I finished my last testlet today, then hit Quit Exam (instead of Continue), so that is why it quit the way it did today (guess I was thinking, Done, Quit Exam – makes more sense than Done, Continue – the other choice was Yes, to review exam).

The good news (I hope) is that the candidates before me who have made this same mistake called NASBA and everything turned out okay – results were successfully recorded and transmitted to AICPA…just like if you quit in the middle of the exam, I think they still score what you had answered up to that point.

Hopefully, I'll get official, positive news from NASBA tomorrow.

My advice: NEVER, EVER, EVER hit Quit Exam. Sounded like a good idea at the time though – guess I didn't have that option in my other two sections, as I used all my time reviewing until the clock ran down.

Live and learn, I suppose. Freaking out a little, but feel good about what I've read about others who have done the same thing.

If econ is only 10% of the exam, how concerned should I be with the foreign econ? I know the basics with hedging, but it seems like I get real hung up on inflation/deflation and how it affects currency between countries. Getting better and really studying the questions I do miss.

I sit tomorrow, believe I have all the formulas down, somehow I truly understand overhead variances, no thanks to Becker, mad props to Roger and his free demo.

Feel pretty prepared, First Becker practice exam 74, Kaplan practice exam averaged out to a 77, and will do the second Becker exam this afternoon.

What do you guys think? I'm planning to take the BEC section of the exam October 23rd. Strategy is to watch all five lectures first, and then just work through the questions. Good idea? Can BEC be knocked out in 3 weeks (like many of you on this site, I work full time) ?

    FAR – 8/28 – 83

    BEC – 10/23

    AUD – 11/27

    REG – 2011

opeoladapo – I did your strategy and going back I wish I had worked some problems during the process instead of just at the end. BEC can tend to be a bit calc-heavy so working the problems really does help with the learning process 😀

Opeoladapo, for me your plan would not work. I think I've spent 5-6 weeks on BEC, while working full time. But I also graduated quite a few years ago, so most of BEC had to be totally relearned. My whole plan during the CPA process has been I really only want to do this exam once if possible, so I've been putting in more time now than is probably needed, in hopes that I won't have to repeat sections.

But it also depends on your family life, my husband is very busy for the next month with his career, so I have to do more around the house rather than spending that time studying. If you can get in the required hours in that amount of time while working full time it's entirely possible.

Good luck with whatever method you choose.

    Hi everyone…………

can anyone tell me when did the BEC pattern changed last time………… and does anyone knows where can I found more sample test papers for practice or if you guys have some links or sample test papers plz forward it to me also as I am not able to find more papers to practice for BEC exam. And one more question does BECKER's MCQ's is enough for practice or do I need to practice more sample papers for BEC

Grr only a 76 on the second Becker Exam. Bombed the third part, have to remember to take time to read the entire question…

veena cpareviewforfree.com is the only place I know if where you can get free mcqs. Certain companies will let you buy question banks from them though. I think they range $54 – $100.

For some people Becker's questions are probably enough, for others who feel they memorized the answer they probably want to do some from other companies.

Thanks for the advice studyingismynewhobby and Florida_Candidate. I'm usually able to get about 15, 16 hours of study a week, so maybe it will be a better idea to plan to take the exam on October 30th, or early November. It's just that I was planning to take AUD at the end of November, so that I won't have to deal with the changes in 2011 🙁
