LauraN874ParticipantHi everyone! I'm taking BEC exactly one week from today and I'm starting to review all of the material. I did really poorly on the variance hw questions, I'm having a really hard time with the overhead variances. I am using Becker but I don't understand their explanation…. can someone recommend another method that perhaps was easier to understand? Thank you so much!

2010PleaseParticipantWell, I just got home and have relaxed for a few minutes, so thought I'd check in with you guys.
My experience was pretty much what others of you have been posting…Becker covered the broad concepts very well, so I wasn't surprised by anything on the exam…maybe had only one or two IT questions that threw me, but nothing outrageous. Having said this though – I haven't a clue how I did…think I more likely passed than not, but you just never know with these things, so I'll be anxiously sitting by my computer for the next 6 weeks. 🙁
Now, here is my worry at this point: I didn't get the survey at the end of my exam where we answer questions about the Prometric Center, so now I'm wondering if I did something wrong after finishing and while exiting my exam. Could I have accidentally dumped my results (sounds OCDish, doesn't it)?
Seriously though, I can't remember what the screens were asking me when I was exiting except for the first one or two asking me if I was sure I wanted to exit and that I couldn't go back into the exam once I exited (finished a little early) and I went through a series of those little boxes (maybe 4) answering yes, but it never took me to the survey for the the center, just exited out to the Prometric screen like it does after you finish the survey – now I'm wondering if I read the little “are you sure” boxes thoroughly enough before answering “yes.” Could I have inadvertently answered a yes on something I should have answered no and dumped my results…please tell me it isn't possible… Anyone else have this experience?

herbert7890Participant@ 2010 Please – Hopefully its just a software glitch, that skipped the survey part (a comfortable thought). I'm glad to hear you did well!

2010PleaseParticipant@herbert7890: Thanks. Yeah, I hope you are correct…I still think I'm going to call NASBA though (phone number on the Confirmation of Attendance sheet Prometric gives when you leave) just to see what they can tell me. Of course, now I'll probably worry about it for the next 6 weeks unless they can assure me I didn't screw it up in some way. 🙁
But, on to FAR in the meantime. Can tell you one thing though, it was sure sweet to not have simulations with BEC…that is the nice thing about this section. 🙂

Florida_CandidateParticipantI don't think there IS an option with the CPA exam to dump scores, is there? I mean if you say you don't want to quit exam I think they just take you back to your exam LOL. I think you're fine 🙂 But calling NASBA would probably give YOU peace of mind 😉

AnonymousInactive2010Please
Just to give you peace of mind – call NASBA to confirm they received your completed exam. Once when I was completing the checking out process the person said Called over another worker and said they “could not recall seeing this message before” Well, being concerned I called and confirmed with both Prometric and NASBA that my exam had been received. The person responded within a couple of hours and it sure made me feel better.
Never found out what the message indicated. Better put your mind at ease. Someone posted a few months ago that they had clicked the wrong button. But after calling to clarify that he/she wanted the test scored the exam was scored.
Good luck!

2010PleaseParticipant@Florida,
I hope you are correct. I've emailed NASBA…should get a response within 5 days. It would sure be a shame if I had to take it again…overall, I think I did fairly well on this section…at least I think I answered most questions correctly – but, then again, sometimes I thought I was answering some questions correctly when doing Becker's MCQ homework, and I was WRONG…but I'm trying to not second-guess myself in that regard. I'd feel a lot better about the whole deal if I'd had that stinking survey come up though!! 🙂

2010PleaseParticipantCPA Journey,
Okay, thanks, that sounds like a good idea. I did just sent an email earlier, but if I don't hear back by tomorrow afternoon (says 5 days, but I may not wait), I'll probably go ahead and call just to see if I can get someone to check.
So, you are saying there is an option to not have it scored (from the person who called NASBA in the past). The Prometric guy seemed to think mine completed because he was able to print out the Confirmation of Attendance, but I'd feel a whole lot better knowing that (NASBA) will make sure it happens.

2010PleaseParticipantMoving on to FAR. I'm doing this with Becker online (not the live classes), so my FAR section officially started today…time to start watching my videos. 🙂
In the meantime, praying that my exam is secure. Thanks to all of you for the feedback…hopefully, from what CPA Journey had to say, even if I did screw up, it is still fixable. I'm sure my mind was muddled as I was exiting, but surely I didn't completely overlook something like, “Do you want us to trash your exam results?” 🙂 We'll see…if allows for some kind of silly screw up, I'd be likely to do it. You know, I guess it is kind of like your scheduling in Tampa, when you just knew it was Orlando…ugh…this studying, studying, testing thing just makes us all CRAZY!! 🙂
