BEC Ancillary?

Is the ancillary for BEC important? I’m currently in the first chapter and it seems that there is a lot of ancillary… even some on IFRS. I can’t imagine that IFRS is tested on the BEC exam, so it makes me question how important the other ancillary material really are.

I’ve used the search tab, and it seems that only kb24 states that the BEC ancillary material is important. I want to hear more input from others though, hopefully from those who took BEC this 4th quarter.

I'd say READ it for sure, don't skip it. You may find out that this is something you are very well familiar with or you'll see something that you have never heard of, then make sure you know and understand what they are referring to. Sometimes ancillary material covers a regular topic in greater details, and it's worth spending a few extra minutes going over a few pages.

You'll see many MCQ on this material in your homework. I think a lot of people neglect ancillary material and when it comes to real exam they classify these questions as “out of space”. IMO, this material is there for a reason. Of course, it's minor, not heavily tested and has less chances appearing on your exam than other topics covered in lectures, but you simply need to know it. I've seen some questions on ancillary material on my exam. You may or may not see something like that on your exam. Good luck!

    AUD - 11/23/2011 - 84
    FAR - 02/22/2012 - 76 (I'll take it!)
    REG - 08/31/2012

I agree with iPass. I recently took REG and found that a good portion of my questions were from Ancillary material. It could result in that one extra point you might need.
