    Barely: Good luck to you! Remember, you know more than you think you know and RTFQ!

    You got this! Can't wait to celebrate your passing score in Wave 2!

    Thank you both!!! Practice exams are looking good, so I'm being cautiously hopeful! @BaxterCPA out of the exams I've taken so far, I feel that RTFQ will be especially important for BEC! @SeattleAccountant you can bet that I will still participate in the BEC review threads. It's a good way for me to keep the knowledge fresh in my mind even after the exam. I still post in REG threads sometimes too (but not FAR threads…FAR was a “never look back” exam haha).

    Thank you both again!

    Thanks for the encouragement, guys! Sorry for the late reply! I spent the day crying myself a river. Just kidding. But not really.

    At the testing center, I was put at the cubicle closest to the door for the monitoring station. Even with my headphones on, I could hear the Prometric people talking for most of the exam. I wasn't sure if I was allowed to get up in the middle of a testlet, so I waited until the end of the second testlet to go out and ask them to be quiet. They apologized, and I went back to start my third testlet. AND I COULD STILL HEAR THEM. I don't think they realized how terrible the soundproofing was. At that point, I just said screw it and rushed through the third testlet. I'm not great at blocking out noise when studying or taking exams, so it was very difficult for me. I can't even tell how many hard vs. easy questions I had because I had such a difficult time focusing!!! I flagged about ten in the first testlet. Like I said, I ended up rushing through the MCQ testlets just to get it over with. Finished the MCQs in an hour and a half.

    The one upside is that I had plenty of time to do the WC portion. I had allocated myself an hour, and I ended up having an hour and a half free. So I wrote three memos that I think Tim Gearty would be proud of.

    Overall, I don't feel good at all. I wrote about my experience in the survey at the end, but I really doubt the AICPA cares or will relay the information to the Prometric center.

    Oh well, just gotta enjoy my day off. AUD prep begins tomorrow!

    Barely: I'm sorry to hear about your trouble at Prometric. To them it's just a job and they don't really think about how important and expensive these exams are to the actual testers. I think you should call Prometric and report the incident. Maybe the environment will be different for the next tester…and you when you go back for AUD. I hope you pulled down a 75+ in spite of their loud mouth selves.

    Whew!!!

    @Barely,

    Glad to hear about your excellent time management and having enough time to brawl with Prometric's people, haha!

    You got me with “crying a river” – I've glanced over and panicked at first. Nah, you can start AUD.

    Seriously, Prometric testing centers are not anybody's fav place to be BUT they could stand upgrading their dinosaur computers, soundproofing rooms, regularly cleaning bathrooms and fixing those damn blasting-in-your-Netherlands AC systems πŸ™‚

    Thanks for the advice, BaxterCPA! I sent Prometric an email. I feel bad, because the people at the center are very, very nice. I just said I didn't think they realized how poorly sound-proof it is.

    Does anyone know if there is a specific email address or phone number for the AICPA where we can check to see if we made it into this wave? Given the circumstances, I have a feeling I may not receive my scores next week, because I fell in the bubble OR because I didn't make it in this wave. (Sorry if this question has been posted in the past.)

    @barely:first of all I want to say I'm sorry for your experience at the test center yesterday. I was in a similar seat for my test on Monday and the staff was yucking it up during my exam too. I have kids so I'm pretty good at drowning out noise when I have to lol. However my son has trouble focusing with noise and I am constantly at his school fighting for better work and testing conditions so I get it. I think you should take a deep breath because you know you were really prepared for this exam, you did phenomenally well on your others, and I am confident you passed this with flying colors. I think if you call the 1-800-CPA exam number and speak to a human tomorrow they can tell you whether or not your score will be released next week. When I called last week they assured me that if I took the exam on or before the 13th it would be released in this window. I would also suggest when you call if you can ask them about requesting a quieter spot for next time. It is my understanding that they allow accommodations in certain circumstances. It's worth a try to ease your anxiety about it.
