48 hours til BEC…

And I’m going through that rollercoaster of emotions I’ve gone through before every other test… “I know enough, I’ll be fine”. 2 hours of studying later “OH MY GOD I KNOW NOTHING”.

Every time I’m studying/memorizing formulas I’m thinking “no no no, need to devote more time to theory”. Start studying theory and think “yeah but what if I forget those formulas?”.

No real point here, just venting.

Oh, is it bad that all I did to “study” for the writing section was watch Becker’s 40 minute lecture and memorize the standard opening and closing lines for memos? I’m extremely good at writing (probably better than I am at accounting…) so can I just kind of BS my way through those with some professionally worded niceties and common sense/grammar since the accuracy of the content supposedly isn’t graded? That’s my plan.

Good luck to everyone else testing this week!

You should be good to go with the writing.

NINJA Tip: work all IT MCQs the afternoon before your exam.

Nothing brilliant here, but these were some suggested wordings via Becker, and I figure it helps to just have some standard buzz phrases memorized that the “grader” probably likes to see

    Openings:

“The purpose of this memo is…

    …to provide a brief overview of _________”

    …to describe ____________”

    …to address _________”

If it's addressed to someone you are more ‘friendly' with or have a slightly more casual relationship with

“I was delighted to hear about your interest in _____________”

    Closings:

“I would be happy to discuss any additional questions you may have regarding __________ at your earliest convenience”.

“Please feel free to contact me at any time to further discuss ___________”.
