    Hi everyone!

I am taking the BEC exam next week (5/05) and I was wondering for the last week should I just hammer MCQ. I am realizing that I am very bad at operations management, but I want to brush up on the other material. I am freaking out. I have been reading a lot and most people say that they have had problems with IT and Econ because those were heavily tested. I just don't know what the best strategy is at this point. Thank you in advance.

    Hi Ninjas:

I have answered all of the BEC questions and I am still in the adaptive phase, I see that most people reset BEC and do them over again. Do, I reset once I finish the review stage or since I have answered all of the questions go ahead and reset the MCQ now?

    Thanks,

    Happy Sunday everyone!

I took what I am praying was my last exam this morning. A couple of observations: 1) You can not copy and paste during the WC portion from one letter to the next. I tried it and it didn't work. lol 2) The new software is much more user friendly than the previous one. The simulations are so much easier to navigate with all the windows. I still don't know why we have to wait so long for our grades. 3) Make sure to budget your time. I took too long on the MCQs and ran out of time on my last WC. I was able to write something but not as much as I would've liked. 4) Study everything. 5) I think I bombed the first 5-6 MCQs and my test started getting noticeably easier. I don't know if that is good or bad. 🙂

I'm praying that everyone passes! See you on Score Release day!

@Nikki374 how would you rate the difficulty of the WC? I'm actually more worried about the WC than the other parts of the exam (since I'm really not good at writing down my thoughts lol).

@lurker I was concerned about it too but it wasn't bad. I wrote all three in 30 minutes and I used as many buzz words as possible. I ran out of time on the third one but I stuck to my template for all three. (Intro body and conclusion)

@Nikki374 thanks! I'll have to memorize the general format that I saw here. Would you say that the AICPA sample tests were helpful for the exam (assuming you did them)?

@lurker, yes the AICPA sample tests were helpful. I even had an MCQ that was very similar to one of the MCQs. I think it's always worth doing as many MCQs as possible and understanding why you got them wrong.

Always glad to hear back from people who have taken their exams!

6 days to go for me and I'm struggling a bit. I feel like I know things well enough for multiple choice, but not well enough for an essay for example. I read it and it all makes sense, but it's like I didn't memorize enough yet.

On a non-exam note, my company has only 2 active CPA's – one is 2 positions above me, the other is 5 positions above. Not sure what this means for my career eventually, aside from the promotion I received a few months ago. I've basically overimproved myself for my current role as an individual contributor in industry, but when all the non-CPA's are 55+ it's not hard to worry about what the future may bring and want to protect myself. The lack of public accounting experience would put me in a weird spot in the job market though so it's hard to find comparables for salary purposes.

Just went through AICPA practice exam – didn't seem all that bad..? Hoping this is representative of what is to come on exam day. We shall see.

    @Jen, you got this!

I'm not sure what city you live in but in Dallas the market is very good for CPAs, with or without public experience.

It feels strange to have a such a long wait until score release but not to have any more sections to study.

How important is the IT section of the exam? My exam is on Friday and I'm not really absorbing any of the IT info in Becker.

@lurker – It depends. Some people said they had a lot of IT MCQs and some people had a little bit. It's best to keep hammering all the MCQs. You are probably retaining more than you think.

anyone using Becker for BEC? Im doing a combo of NINJA and Becker and just feeling overwhelmed with the amount of info. Its the smallest Becker book but the most dense info.

My history with BEC is taking it in May 2015, studying everything but the computations and making a 70, then just taking it without studying in January of 2017 and making a 64. The computations just seem to be going in all sorts of directions.
