At least you guys GET some MCQ. I’m taking BEC 4/13 and I’m just gonna read the source materials – whatever little I can find.

But I’m thinking it’s not going to be a major change. The new COSO seems to realign some old ERM terminology into this new 5.

    Study Material:
    GLEIM
    BEC - FEB/2012
    AUD - FEB/2012
    FAR - JULY/2012
    REG - JULY/2012

@busy –The new changes have are reflected in the ERM Framework it is no longer IS EAR AIM. It is now GO PRO – Governance & Culture, Strategy & Setting Objectives, Performance, Review & Revision, and Information, Communication, and Reporting (Ongoing). There are then 20 principles – DOVES SOAR VAPIR SIR TIP each one breaks down into further sub topics/principles. Overall, its nothing majorly new everything still plays off of the old framework as in first aspect “tone at the top” and etc..

    How's everyone doing?

I'm currently behind on my study schedule due to my gnat-like attention span, although it will of course all get done in time even if I have a shorter review period than I'd like or have to take PTO from work. I have taken a little bit of time off from studying (an evening or half-day here or there). I was about to lose my mind and my work performance was suffering too from all these months of living and breathing accounting. I definitely considered pushing back my exam but I think I should power through even if I risk a lower score. I keep reminding myself that I don't get a gold star for scoring above a 75, but that I absolutely have to study enough for a 75 because I never ever want to do this again. (Reach score is an 82, for the selfish reason that it means my overall average would tie to my manager's, but we'll see).

Becker B3M1 – OMG. I had to slow Angie Brown to 0.75 speed. It distorts the audio a bit (and of course it takes longer). However, she was talking so fast at regular speed (and yet repeating herself) that she was making me anxious and I wasn't absorbing anything anyway. I ran across her in Final Review for FAR for Governmental Accounting and was like, no time for the rambling, I can't listen to you and I'll stick with the book.

@Jen-J- You scored really well on FAR, Kudos !!! Do share FAR tips, as I am gonna test it in this quarter.

I was thinking how to get a passing score, and your score really motivated me…all the more for FAR..

@Jen-J – I am struggling with my attention span too on this section. I am taking BEC on April 23 and I don't think I will have as much review time as I would like but I am going to power through. My weak area is Financial Management so I will probably target that area and other weak areas for review. I'm so ready to be done!

Can anyone help me with full form of DOVES SOAR VAPIR SIR TIP ?

Its from Corp Gov. May be its a mnemonic which Becker uses, I am not aware of, as I dont use Becker.

@busy – honestly, I expected FAR to be worse than it was. It was my first one so I didn't know what to expect and thought I'd get killed on super difficult topics. I felt like the exam had more medium-difficulty items than I expected and less of the super difficult ones. Only thing that comes to mind is to make sure you get through all the material while studying – one FAR exam can vary quite a bit from another, and there's no way to know what you'll get on your test.

Hey…does anyone know if it matters if I study the subjects out of order? For example, I did M1 in Becker (Corporate Governance) but I wanted to go to M6 about technology next.

    @ Michele,

It depends. If you mix chapter 6 (IT chapter) with any other chapters, you are going to be okay. And I strongly support that idea.

However, you need some structure while you study the chapters/modules. Why? For instance, when you are in chapter 5 (Economics), you do want to learn Module 3 before you study Module 4. Also, don't forget about Progress Tests.

Skim the book if you plan on “jumping” between Modules.

    Good luck!

I take the exam on Friday. How should I spend my last couple of days of review? I haven't really practiced the written communication at all, so I'll be looking at that a bit. I'm just pretty worn down now and I almost feel like I know all of the Becker multiple choice questions by heart…

@Dean I took BEC last qtr. Got a 84 after a 74. For the WC- remember to hit as many buzz words as u can. Questions r random & really hard study for them.
I rewrote ALL my NINJA notes to make sure it was fresh in my mind.
    Good luck!
