I took BEC yesterday and overall didn't feel toooooooooo bad about it.

First testlet was pretty easy and really straightforward, no surprises there and very representative of the blueprint. Second testlet was harder and almost all conceptual questions, barely any calculations. I didn't feel that they were unbearably hard but there were a few questions about topics that I have never even heard of so I'm hoping those were the “test” questions

Both SIMS weren't unbearably hard either, they were very different from the Becker ones I've been studying but I felt like I could figure them out for the most part.

Written TBS also weren't terrible there was one question that I was confused by but hopefully I answered it well enough!

    Good luck to everyone else!

Still on week two and I have no idea what is going on. What are they talking about> why does it matter? No idea…

@gguzman – you got this man. Everything will eventually come together. The actual exam is not as bad as Becker makes it look like.

I started BEC yesterday… I'd probably be half way through if Olinto only repeated himself once rather than 10 times….

@gguzman, I felt the same way when I started studying BEC. Keep going.

Just started studying with Wiley. The lessons are kinda long and then I get to the end of the lesson and there's a 3-4 question quiz for the assessment. I'm in the COSO/ERM module. Is the text just detailed overkill or are the MCQ's at the end not representative of how heavily it's tested on the exam?

Wiley is extremely detailed. They give you everything and don't care what's on the AICPA blueprint as related to content percentages.

Have any of you guys used Becker Final Review for BEC? If so, is it worth it?

Hey everyone, I've decided to commit to BEC right away even though I'm waiting on my Reg score, so I'm working on a planner and scheduling the exam. My question is is 4 weeks enough? Seems like it should be..?

It's doable but you have to be committed. No days off.

    Question 2
    AICPA.061219BEC-SIM
Milo Corp. maintains daily backups of its accounting system in a fireproof vault in the file library. Weekly, monthly, and annual backups are stored in a secure, fireproof vault at an off-site location.

Maintenance of the backup files is an example of

    a detective control.

    a feedback control.

    a corrective control. CORRECT ANSWER

    a preventive control. MY ANSWER
    This Answer is Correct
Corrective controls allow the user to recover from a problem once it has been identified

Can someone explain this to me? I thought that keeping a backup offsite would be preventive in the event something were to happen to the workplace? Corrective involves something already having happened needing to be fixed correct?

@jsdailey Preventative controls are designed to stop errors, problems, or irregularities from occurring. Keeping a backup of the accounting system does not reduce the risk that something will happen to the accounting system. Rather, it just provides a remedy if something does happen. Therefore keeping a backup is NOT a preventative control.

    Maybe this makes sense.
