Does anyone know if there will be any type of research assistance or tab for the new writing section of the BEC exam?

I don't think there is. My Becker Final Exams and Simulations tab does not show a research option for the BEC writing portion, however, they have included it for the simulations in the other 3 sections. I'm not too happy about this! Anyway, I can tell you for sure after Thursday, cause that is when I'm sitting for BEC. Woot…

I did the BEC tutorial on the AICPA website, and there was no research tab for reference, but it was included for the other 3 sections. Based on this and other stuff I've read, we are on our own. 🙁 I would guess the main focus is proper grammar and not so much techinical knowledge.

I took BEC yesterday and there was no such function. All 3 essays were in the same testlet and you can pick and choose which one you start first.

The topics that I had were very surprising for BEC too.

    Thanks, chicpamom!

I think it was Becker saying that we should not be surprised to find FAR, AUD and REG essay topics on BEC in the beginning. They need to compare us with what they already have diagnostics on.

Did you notice your testlets geting any more difficult?

Yes I got tested on FAR topics. My 2nd testlet was harder than the first one, but the third was easy. I didn't realize it was adaptive. Great, I guess I didn't do too well. lol
