What if you don't understand the topic for BEC WC

So lets say you get a topic on BEC where you can’t remember exactly what it means and aren’t quite sure what to write about it. Everyone says that the computer grades your score based off of keywords and no grammatical errors, but it does not grade it off of the content. So my question is what is mean’t by keywords? Is this simple things like restating what is being asked in the introduction?

I guess my question is how would one go about writing the Written communication portion if they had no idea what to write to describe the topic they received?

Many people have difficulty with the BEC writing. Some can’t remember exactly what it means. Others aren’t quite sure what to write about. The computer grades your score based off of keywords and no grammatical errors. However, it's rumored it does not grade based on the content. That suggest a potential Hail Mary strategy.

One question is what is meant by keywords. For some, it is as simple as the time I whistled for a cab and when it came near, the license plate said “FRESH” and it had dice on the mirror. If anything I could say that this cab was rare, but I thought, “Nah, forget it. Yo home to Bel-Air!”

Taking BEC tomorrow, I'd like to hear some input on this as well.

I figured I'd still follow the format (intro, bodies, conclusion) and basically restate the question a bunch and try to add any little details elaborating on it if possible. I feel like the prompts basically give you at least a thesis statement for the bodies, so any little thing you could add to that while continuing to repeat the prompts with good grammar should be sufficient.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's my plan as of now.

the Becker study guide gave some examples of “full credit” and “less than full credit”. some key things that the Becker study guide said was

    no bullet point lists
no text talk like u will need 2 find a good study guide
make sure you put an opening for further discussion in the conclusion

one things Becker said that stuck with me was it will give you a scenario of you (the test taker) are a manager and your new entry level staff person needed some guidance on how the company accounts for purchase orders. Write a memo outlining the staff person's duties. Then, Becker gave examples of what to say and how to say it. at the end of the memo, put something like, “If you would like to discuss further please stop by my office any afternoon this week.”

I didn't do any of the practice WC, but did listen to the 40 minute lecture and read 1 example of full credit and 1 example of less than full credit.

I passed BEC the first time with an 80 and the second time with a 75. It had expired on me and I only studied about 3 weeks before taking it the 2nd time. Not super high scores, but a 75 is good enough, right?

For one, you can pass BEC (and only BEC) with MCQ only.
Second, and more importantly, I find it hard to believe that you could know nothing about anything they give you. Between college, work, and studying you will remember something.

    Good Luck!

I didn't read the comments above but trust me when I said this, out of 3 WCs, I'm almost positive that 2 of them that I wrote didn't answer the question.

Follow the format they give you, restate the question and write 3 paragraphs. There MUST be some keywords in the question that triggers a memory of what you learned. From those keywords, I started to insert some vocabulary to obtain some points. I'm almost positive WCs are the reason that I passed. If you're a native speaker and have a decent grasp on english, it should not be hard. 3 paragraphs…

I would memorize a generic intro and conclusion that you can apply to almost all the questions. Restate the question and make sure your spelling and all that is correct. I ran out of time and had maybe 20 min for the writing portion – did the last question with under 3 min and somehow passed just by writing an intro and conclusion. I had no idea what the real answer to the question was and made it up so you should be fine. Even think I used the same intro for all 3 questions and changed a few minor words.
