BEC Written Communication; this may be a 'stupid' question…

For the BEC Communication, for those of you who have passed or taken the exam, did you use a saluation (such as Dear. Mr. Smith), in your memos?

The Wiley Book examples have no salutation… but when I look for examples of standard business memos, they have salutations.

I am really confused. Did you guys use a salutation to open the letter? Did you end the letter by saying “Thank you, <insert your name here>, or did you just write your 3-4 paragraphs, with no greeting?

As trivial as this sounds – I would disclose but I believe it violates the disclosure of testing material code. I don't believe it will have any effect on your score one way or the other though.

I don't think I'm violating any rules by saying this because I'm not divulging the nature, topic, or any specific info about the items — (Jeff, if I'm wrong I apologize and please delete my post!) — The memo formats they gave me in the exam already said “To: whoever was mentioned as the intended recipient” so I didn't put anything further.

On the exam its already formatted at the top, so no need for a greeting. You can take a sample test on the AICPA website to get a feel of how the actual simulation looks on the exam.

I would definitely end your memo with a closing, like, I hope i was able to assist you with your concerns. if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me

    Thanks for the tips, everyone!

So I will start with no salutation, end with a closing sentence, and no closting salutation.
