    Hey everyone,

This is my first post on here and I’ve read a lot of people saying these blogs helped them (finally) pass this damn exam. My story is I’m taking BEC for the third time in about two weeks and I have no idea what/how else to study!! I scored a 72 on both tries and am really just looking for advice and motivation to hopefully help me pass this part finally!!

What study material are you using?

BEC was my first exam. I studied for it like I wanted my first pass REALLY badly. This is a question where you need to ask yourself, are you understanding the material or are you merely memorizing? After taking this exam, I realized that it's a lot better to make an effort to understand the material. You can memorize IT and COSO, unless that stuff makes sense to you. Also, BEC is very short, so everything you learn is fair game.

I would say the NINJA MCQ was essential to my passing. I would just cough up the $47.

    REG 52 (4/28/15)
    AUD (9/9/16)

Do you have the Ninja MCQ? If not, buy them, only $47 for 3 months of access. Read the explanations over why you got a question wrong, or if you guessed, even if you got it right, sometimes you got it right with the wrong logic. Hammer out those, and reread all of the sections you are struggling with.

If you don't have the Ninja Audio, buy it, I can't remember the price now, but listen to it while you're driving, running, working, whenever you can. Relisten to them a ton of times, even if you don't think that you are absorbing the information, you will somewhat.

    Good luck!

I'm using Surgent cpa review and the ninja audio. I feel as though I understand most of the matieral, Econ and IT are my worst areas. Also does anyone have any advice on the written section?? I scored comparable and then weaker 🙁 improving my score here could be key, thanks again!

How did you reschedule to BEC exam so fast? I am assuming you took it in the last testing portion of dec? If not how long did it take for nasba to process your new remittance form? Thanks

I took and passed my first exam BEC on 12/10. I just applied for FAR and REG and got my NTS the very next day.

At this point, if I were you I would just suck it up and purchase Becker. There is a reason why it's more expensive. I've seen Wiley and Roger and have to say Becker by far is superior and the only material you need to pass. However I put in 150+ hours each so along with the right material, you have to put in the hours but with Becker at least I know they cover the material well which is why I was able to pass FAR and BEC without even reading the books.

Note though Becker AUD Lecture sucks! I think there's one guy named Tim Geary on some parts of the audio. You can't get anything from the lectures if you close your eyes all you hear is the word highlights. I didn't listen to the lecture for FAR or BEC.

Please choose to ignore @goingallin advice about Becker. There is no reason that Becker is more expensive other than reputation which does not necessarily speak to being more effective. All review course are simply review courses (not meant to teach) of the same material. People, who convince themselves that Becker is better, are looking for “the answer” to their lack of confidence or knowledge.

    @goingallin
passed because of his own efforts and knowledge of material. This is something that he/she stated himself/herself.‎

OP, for your weak areas you will get more value with Ninja or something similar that at least attempts to explain why your thinking about a particular topic/question is wrong. In addition to need to put in enough effort to understand the material and understand areas you are lacking.‎

Becker is ok, however, requires a lot of time. For Econ, you could always self-educate yourself with an old, basic, macro-economics textbook. I have used NINJA MCQs for my last 2 exams. Don’t expect to see the same questions on the exam, but as another person mentioned, study the wrong answers and go back and review your weak areas.

For me, having an MBA really helped for this section, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get there.

Neaux: That is my opinion based on my experience. I think it was rude of you to make a comment to ignore my comment. I think the purpose of this forum is for users to provide feedbacks that is helpful. Everyone has s difference opinion. What makes yours better and more relevant? No class!

I'm sorry that you think that my comment was classless. However, I don't think it's a reason to get defensive. I somehow knew that you would focus on the “negative”. You passed bc of your own effort, not Becker. Plus, it's not very evident that you've had any experience with other review materials. My goal was to emphasize the effort required to pass and not the review material.

Madeline: Let me elaborate. I have two friends who are also taking the exam. One purchased Wiley and the other Rogers. I was able to viewed both before deciding they weren't for me and went with Beckers. I agree the cost is ridiculous but for me the benefit outweigh the cost. The staff accountant at my previous work was able to pass all four exams first attempt with Beckers so that sort of helped me decide as well. I believe through effort and the right material for you, you will pass.

I will refrain from additional comments on this thread bc I much rather someone give you a helpful feedback rather than focus on my comments. A negative energy and a know it all attitude never gets you anywhere in life.

    Good luck and donotgiveup!

@madeline 72 means you know the content very well , you just need time management in exam and successful completion of WC.You can find the format of WC in this forum ,please follow the format and you should be good to cross 80.
WC : 1.Start and end para should be as per format .
2.Pick up the key words from questions and just express the question in an alternative way, especially with the purpose of changing the detail or keeping the perspective of the original question.
Close the para with usual memo thing like don't hesitate to contact me etc etc.
That's all for WC and 15 marks is a sweet bonus.
MCQ : Focus on Economics as so many easy questions are there which is very easy to drop .Don't spend too much time on long numerical and move on to next question. When you got 72 it's know new knowledge you require to pass rather new strategies is needed. You are almost there.I wish you to pass in January.
