Took BEC today. This was my first test and I didn’t realize how fast 4 hours goes during these things. Had to rush my last WC. MCQ had more computations on part 1, but I didn’t find it any harder than part 2. One of the sims was so brutal and long I’m really hoping its pretest. I left not feeling so great about it but I really have no clue at all if I passed or not. Ninja only trending 78%.

Time management is certainly a factor with these exams. Trending of 78% puts you in a great position for a pass.

I sat last Tuesday and had the same experience as you. I had one sim that was crazy long and what it was asking for was unreasonable for the time I had left. Ending up having to rush through the WC. Hoping for a miracle on score release. I was trending at 79 on NINJA as well.

I keep hearing that there are a lot of computations and it's making me nervous. I reviewed the Budgeting section this weekend and I'm going to write down all the ratios to memorize them later this week. I hope I can keep all the NPV and IRR stuff straight.

I'm doing IT for the next two days and then Cost Accounting on wednesday and thursday. Hopefully this will give me enough time practice the computations so I can circle back to COSO/ECON on friday, and IT again on saturday and then budgeting on sunday before my exam on Monday. I'm really counting on the WC to help me out.

I just took BEC last week and I had a long and ridiculous sim as well. I'm thinking it must have been pretested but it still sucks to waste all that time on a sim that doesn't count. From what I hear, this testing window for BEC has been pretty tough, I'm hoping that they scale accordingly.

I sat for BEC this quarter and felt 50/50 coming out of it. I ended up passing with an 83.

Sat for BEC today. First testlet had a lot of computational questions, I can't tell if the second testlet was harder cause it had many calculations too. I feel like it basically covered all topics but there are definitely quite a few IT questions. I got a very long sim but it was manageable. The sims aren't that complicated but honestly idk how much I got right. The whole exam was harder than I expected, i spent a lot of time on the first two testlets cause too much calculations. This is also my first exam so I just hope I pass!

I'll be taking BEC on the 10th so your post is very helpful as I can mentally prepare myself to be ready to do calcs right from the first question! Was there a lot of focus on COSO, ERM, COBIT as those are heavily tested it seems? I'm actually more comfortable with calcs as the vagueness in theory based questions like IT can sometimes be very confusing!

78% trending is a good score. You probably did really well on the exam. Everyone walks out thinking the worst. Bare down and move onto the next one.

I took BEC in Q1 and passed with a 79. Coming out of the test I felt mentally drained and real upset about it. Using buzz words in the WC's are a huge factor. You don't even need to get the answer right. Stay confident! The first one is always the toughest.

COSO and IT had more questions but still the whole exam covered everything so if you are prepared for all the formulas and their meaning you should have no problem.

It’s interesting how the AICPA practice text provides SIMs that give you a list of ratios…Wouldn’t that be nice if they did that for MCQs too. For ratio analysis I memorized all of the “rate of” and “return on”. It seemed to be a good strategy.

@kevin seeing that you ended up with a 92 is encouraging. Score release 6/19- updates to come.

I think if you feel pretty confident about the MPQ and you wrote enough for the WC, you should definitely be fine. My score was a lot higher than I expected when I walked out of there. I did pretty bad on the sims in my opinion. I probably only got a handful of MPQ wrong though, which is probably why I ended up doing well. Goodluck!
