Hi Cpa Candidates

this is my first post on the forum but really it’s nice forum i always see the posts since i begin study FAR and pass it and now …

I really Feeling shocked about seeing my Score on BEC ,, i take it in the beginning of this month “Sep” and i got 67 !!!!

the MCQ performance i just receveid showing that i have STRONG in Corprate Govenance and Econmomics and COMPARABLE in Financal Management and Strategic Planning and WEAK for IT and Operations Management

the big problem that i have maybe in WC ” Writing Communctiaon ” the performance is WEAK i don’t know how to answer these questions English is the not my mother language but i can write as i can

really i feeling Confused about fail in BEC ,, all of my friends in the firm and other cpa candicates saying ” oh BEC is easy take it fast as you can ” but really BEC is a trap

now my plan to take BEC in the Beginning of Nov , I want your advice ؟؟؟

@cparrr, I also don't believe that BEC is the easiest one, it all depends on people's experience.
IT is a hard subject. My suggestion is that read Wiley. My friend suggested and it really helped. I didn't think Becker explains COSO and IT well, but Wiley fulfilled the gap. On top of that, I found that reading is more important than just practicing the questions. English is my second language as well, I think as long as you can get the writing structure right, and write whichever you know, you should be fine with the simulation.

I failed BEC twice with a 71 and 73. People underestimate this exam because it has the highest pass rate and there's no sims. IT and COSO have been heavily tested the last couple windows and I would make sure you have a strong understanding of both areas. I agree with Vanessachy that reading is more important than doing thousands of mcq's. I made that mistake my first two attempts, but now I'm doing more reading and making sure I understand the concepts. Mcq's are good practice for the calculation questions, but the exam is most likely going to have calcs on it that you haven't seen in any practice questions. They always seem to make you do an extra step that you're not used to seeing.

I have no advice for the WC since I scored weaker on both exams. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I don't think I'll ever pass this exam until I nail both questions.

i had the same issue with fearing WC part of BEC. i passed with a 75 with 13 days of review, about 10 hours a day( got laid off from work, still feel pretty shitty). What i found helpful was just a few days for my exam, i searched on what was needed for the WC, i got a format and went with it. Out of the 3 WC, i know for a fact i got one right(difference between accrual base and cash base accounting, which is pretty laughable) but a literally bullshited my way through the next 2. i think i passed solely on the format of WC. “Easier” is subjective-No one has the same strengths, weaknesses, circumstances, for that to be true for anyone so advice may or may not be beneficial to you considering this. My two cents:

BEC covers a lot of info (so far I'm halfway through and each) so honestly the best thing to do is not leave a chapter before you feel you have mastered it.

My sitch: I'm still on Financial MGMT because I'm still not at the level where I can remember just the most IMPORTANT formulas (so freaking many). So I'm re-reading, relistening/rewatching, going over it again before I even attempt the MCQ's because I want to do well the 1st time as I believe in never going through a test bank more than thrice: 1. Baseline 2. Problem Questions 3. Review. (And I don't cheat and look at the book while attempting MCQ's). I can't tell how many times I listened, read, and watched the same sections over and over but I have to do it that way because I'm easily distracted.

Writing portion:
Since a robot is grading it, think like a robot- objectively…and emotionless so you can’t psyche yourself out.If you’re not good with writing, then simpler and shorter is better. It is better to be clear, concise, and consistent then convoluted. Best thing to do is get through all 3 written communications and go back later and “tweak it” if you have time. It's better to feel like you at least got it half right.

Or use a set standard they give you such as:
1. Define The Problem or Objective
2. Supporting Info- Prove it
3. Recommendation/Evaluation/Planning-Further steps

Standard 2:
1. Tell them what you're going to tell them (In regards to your question)
2. Background Info/Scope/etc. (Answer the question)
3. Closing- goodwill
