I have my exam scheduled for BEC in the last week of January. What I’ve been doing is that i’ve been following the lectures by becker and highlighting and underlining them memorizing the important parts and doing the multiple choice. I’ve been getting in the range of high 50’s and low 70’s and it’s mostly in the middle. The reason why I do bad is because the examples in the book are so easy but it gets so complicated in the homework assignments. After studying the first two sections again in terms of it’s multiple choice they had a option homework assignment and i thought i was ready for it but it was nothing like the homework because it took complicated questions and just asked a different part of it. Can someone cheer my mood up. I also bought ninja mcq for the 2 week review process. What can I do? – See more at: https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/need-help-mastering-my-studying#sthash.dp9zpQeK.dpuf

Becker's questions are usually more difficult than the ones you will find on the exam. I would just do all the ninja MC's as they resemble the exam fairly closely.

I plan on doing the ninja mcq during the two week review span after I finish the becker book, lectures, and mcq. Is that a good strategy?

You have more than enough time to ensure you pass BEC. I would recommend that you continue working MCQs, making sure you understand the explanations when you get the answer wrong, or when you get it right by luck.

Don't focus on how you're doing in Becker or any other study material, just focus on coverage and understanding.

I have a question guys, I usually can't deal with doing 70-100 mcq when i do the mcq on becker because it's always when I come home from work or towards the end of the day when i'm tired. Is it ok that I take a look at a majority of them like 50 of them and just randomly guess on the rest. Don't get me wrong i have time, I just don't have the energy. Also I look at the answers and how they got it and get a better understanding of it. It's just my faituge.

I would say any work done when you're mentally checked out isn't worth it. I'm with you, I'm only good for about 2 hours at night but it is what it is. If I try to do more than that it's not effective and I don't remember anything. I've just had to push back my FAR exam 2 weeks to allow me the amount of time I need to study at my pace.

I concur. Roger's class questions are so easy and then NINJA questions make me cry. It seems that you use Becker. I felt that Roger really simplified the stuff for me. However, I believe Becker does have harder questions than the actual exam. If the questions are too hard, I would really try to understand how they got the answer. Not going into much detail, but one exam question (which to this day, I wondered if I got it right), I had to use 5 formulas just to get to the answer. I think what really helped me, despite not knowing EVERY subject well, was my exposure to MCQs. I easily looked at 2000+ questions and felt that it really helped.

Unfortunately, these exams (especially BEC) are just those hit or miss. You can get lucky and get tested heavily on the subjects you're strong at. But my advice is attack your weak areas. I didn't, so the NPV questions, IT, and financial management killed me. Hence my score.

So im suffering through BEC as well using Beckers. The only thing that keeps me some what motivated is that i know that the level of difficulty in Beckers is much harder then the actual exam. I am currently averaging 50's on all the homeworks, its really demotivating, but i had similiar situation with FAR and REG and i still passed. But yea i can relate. What kind of gives it away is that the questions that they give seem to be longer then what can be solved in a minute and a half. Keep in mind that they cant possibly keep giving these kinds of questions back to back.

    FAR-76 First attempt.
    AUD-79 First attempt.
    REG-79 First attempt.
    BEC-79 First attempt.

    Done!
