Did I just take BEC, or a test on a bunch of nonsense? - Page 2

I thought it was kind of tough sledding on the first module, but felt pretty good about it when I moved on. A lot of stuff didn’t come to me right away but I got it when I went back to it. There were some easy ones but I could definitively tell, for the first time out of all 4 exams, that my 2nd testlet got harder.

The sims, I don’t know how to feel about those. I probably wouldn’t have know how to determine some answers because Becker definitely doesn’t cover much of what I actually saw in my sim in their BEC study materials. I was most concerned about the memos, but those came to me fairly easily. I’m not sure if I was completely accurate, but I was able to put 3 well-written responses together. Does anyone know how much they grade on accuracy for the memos?

Overall, I don’t know how to feel about it as a whole. First module was good, 2nd module will depend on how many pre-test questions were in there. Maybe an accounting and IT double major could ace this exam? I don’t think I had a major letdown in any module on the exam, but the 2nd multiple choice would probably be the one if so. Just kind of depressed because I was really hoping this would be my last exam but it’s really up in the air the way I’m feeling. Once December 19th rolls around, I could go from having zero exams left to having AUD and BEC left.

I took it on 12/4/17. The first testlet was really hard out of the gates..I know my second testlet was a lot easier in difficulty.

@CoachEmUp I took it last December. So no SIMs, and I would say a much different variety of questions.

@Spaztic no JE on my test today, but we all get different stuff so that doesn’t mean much.

You just took a test on a bunch of non-sense. Sometimes I will get a test on a bunch of non-sense which is usually a good thing bc it means they are testing you on harder topics that were barely covered.

    Goodluck.

@SP – feel same way about my exam. 1st test hard 2nd not so much. Sims ok with no JEs. Felt worst coming out of others that I passed so am suprised especially I study least for BEC than any of the other 3. Lots of material from FAR and AUD are in BEC so if you have taken those first BEC is easier, imo.

I just took BEC yesterday…and I have no idea how to feel. I'm certainly not frustrated and almost feel like I should keep studying because I am almost positive I bombed it. I had A Lot of time left over, about 1.5 hours, which makes me wonder what the heck happened. I carefully read everything and truly tried my best. I didn't leave anything blank except 2 calcs on one TBS. It was a little bit of everything in BEC for me. There was a lot that I felt my Wiley package never even touched. I did every single question in their test bank multiple times and that is putting it mildly. I knew I needed more work on the operational management sections but I didn't get hardly anything from it on exam day. I'm thinking I may wait for test results but I hate to waste time if I could retake in January before tax season ramps up. The only part I feel I know I did terribly on was the WC. I kept it very short and sweet.

I took BEC on 12-9, spent five minutes on the first MCQ and ended up guessing. Lots of cost questions on quiz one, lots of coso on quiz two. SIM's kicked my butt as well and even had some tough essay questions. Got a 74 in January when I last took BEC, this seemed to be on another level.

I also took BEC yesterday and feel very similar to everyone here. It was way out of left field and Becker did a pitiful job preparing me, I anticipated that and used GLeim's test bank. Nonetheless, the first testlet seemed very difficult, TONS of IT and COSO. The second testlet seemed to be more difficult, but still not a lot of calculation and more IT/COSO sprinkled with Econ. SIMS were not so bad except for the JE's. WC was ok, I put forth a reasonable, albeit not perfect, response for each. Fingers crossed. I am sure we all did better than we think.

I think we're going to see a lot of scores higher than what we anticipate. Hopefully lots of passing scores! Good luck to all with the upcoming release.

I appeared for BEC on December 8, and the first booklet was Ok, but not sure how I could have prepared for the second one. I worked out all MCQs from Ninja and Wiley and still found a lot of IT concepts for the first time in my life. I was a bit slow as well, and made a mistake of re-verifying all numerical problems and as a result I had to leave blank one essay question, and not completely satisfied with remaining two essays as I had to rush through them. TBS were Ok, except a lengthy question which I am not sure of. I do not have much hopes and ready to take a retest. Has anyone passed any paper doing this badly?

Can anyone report their scores that thought it was non-sense yet? Today will be the day to see if the rubber meets the road as far as our thoughts on BEC walking out.

    @CoachEmUp

I had very similar thoughts on BEC as everyone else in the thread: OK-ish first testlet (only flagged 5 or 6), second testlet made up of a bunch of IT concepts I felt clueless on. SIMS I felt like I got 1 totally right, the other 3 maybe some partial credit. Finally, was very confident in the essays so I had hoped they would bring me up to a 75.

Was very relieved to see my score of 83 when I checked earlier!!

@andrew thanks for the feedback. Makes me feel relieved (scores come out this morning in IL), bc everyone who posted in the score release thread didn't post here. Sounds like we had similar experience and I hope for a 75+ like you. Congrats!

I got a 94 on BEC and thought it was 60% chance I passed and 40% I failed when leaving the testing center. Either all of my IT guesses were correct (extremely unlikely) or I dominated the SIMS & WC's and the first testlet carried me.

For people reading this in the future: IT is an important part of the test, but I would be an expert in every other topic first because I'm not sure how you could've prepared for the IT questions I got.

I absolutely thought it was nonsense. The second testlet was 90% one content area…. I somehow managed a 93. I still can't believe it. I think I killed the SIMS.
