Hello~

I’ve taken this exam so many times that I’m too embarrassed to say how often I’ve failed. I just got the news today that I failed again. I just don’t know what to do as I want to give up. Why is this so hard for me? For the ones that have passed, can you give me some advice on how to tackle this exam. The bulk of my studying was on the weekend and I try to study at least 2 hours during the week.

How many hours total? How many MCQs total?
Those 2 items above all else are the best predictors I have witnessed.

I studied around 29 hours per week for 4 weeks. As I used Wiley Test Bank and Ninja Notes, the amount of multiple questions were around 700. Based off of your post, it appears I'm not spending enough time working on multiple questions.

2 hours during the week a day or in the whole entire week Monday to Friday? This means you are a) dragging out the learning process b) forgetting from week to week what you have studied before. BEC is tough because it's a hodge podge of topics and some are intense (capital budgeting, cost accounting). a score of 39 indicates a pretty severe deficiency in knowledge. The key to success here is studying a lot, and not for too long. For BEC (has 6 chapters), ideal amount of time would be 8-10 weeks, if you are putting in about 20 hours a week (20 productive hours). I studied for 12 weeks for BEC because it was my first test, and I thought it was a bit too long. I put in about 3-4 hours during the weekdays, and more on the weekends. what review program are you using? I used Becker and Ninja to supplement during review.

@anyatver… Thanks for your advise.

I'm currently using Wiley and Ninja Notes. Somehow, I think I need to add more materials to my file a long with more “productive” study time. Since, I've taken the exam so many times, I seem to allow myself 4 weeks of reviewing the material again and it's obvious that's not working.

The highest score I've obtained was 60 a few years ago and it keeps getting lower.

you need to spend more time studying and not necessarily more material. All i did for bEC was MCQ and I didn't even practice sims eventhough I had wiley sims and no writing practice. I did look at the answers for sims but did not actually do it on my own. I stuided for 2-3 weeks.. around 3-4 hrs a day and about 5 hrs on the weekend. It is pretty clear that whatever you are doing is not working. all I can say is spend more time because wiley is more than enough for BEC. I suggest youtube for the economics stuff coz you will find better explanations for them on youtube. The Wiley MCQ prepares you well for the BEC portion and sims are easy in BEC. Good Luck

Have all your scores been in that general ballpark?

I may have some useful advice, but I just want to confirm you're studying 29 hours per week…yes? 2 hours per day M-F and then all day sat and sun?

I think for any given section, i would complete all of Becker MCQ plus multiple progress tests and then the entire Ninja test bank. 700 probably doesn't cover the entire testbank so you are definitely not exposing yourself to the entire material. I agree with previous posters who say that it's not more studying, just more to the point. Good luck-I think once you get over this hump, you will gain the momentum you need to keep going!

How about starting fresh with a different section? The studying may come easier with new material and passing one will be motivation to keep going.

Hard to say if you are doing enough with the amount of hours and questions. But if your scores arent translating then you either need to change your study method or double down on the effort.
