First of all- Happy new year!!

I’ve been trying to pass the CPA for about 3 years and it’s been a struggle with family and work obligation. I just want 2019 be the year I get it done. 🙁

Anyways, I took BEC today and let me tell you.. it was nothing like they said it would be. My first testlet felt extremely difficult as it look me about and hour and half to get through the 31 MCQ. While I was working through the MCQ, I felt so defeated. I felt as if this was not meant for me. My questions were nothing like I reviewed with Becker. I had to guess about 4 MCQ because I was clueless to what the question was trying to address. After I submitted my first testlet, I worked on my 2nd testlet which was MUCH easier and doable. I literally had to guess 2 questions out of the 31. While I was working through the MCQ, I knew that I had messed up on the 1st testlet.

Now SIMS.. My first two sims were little difficult but doable but I left much more confident on my 4 testlet because I exactly what I had to do. I would like to assume i did much better on the sims than mcq.

For my written communication, I believe I answered one out of the three WC accurately with correct grammar while addressing the questions. The rest of the three were just nonsense. I only had about 20 minutes left, so I put together whatever I could during the time and hope that I get one or few points.

Right now I feel like i failed badly.. so I’m looking for some hope because when I walked out of the center, I felt so disappointed.

Please do share your experience and maybe we all can work through this and get it done.

Your experience sounds like what I had when I took it last year. I thought for sure I failed but I made an 82. So it’s possible that you too have a positive outcome. Below is the post I made regarding my experience.

Your experience is exactly what happened to me…Now I hope the outcome is similar as yours. 75 is all i'm hoping for!

This is truly frightening! I am taking BEC the 14th and I am feeling so anxious about it. I hope you passed.

I took my exam on December 9th, and believe me when I tell you, I was about 95% sure that I would fail and the remaining 5% was just wishful thinking (like I hope to God that there is a glitch in the computer system that magically assigned additional scores for a passing grade). The MCQs were difficult, the DRS's didn't make sense to me, and I sure as hell didn't know anything whatsoever about one of the written communications questions. Needless to say that I went home and attempted to recuperate after the ass whooping dished out. Approximately one week later, I checked my scores and I made a 78! Thank God for glitches!

    Cheer up.

I took it in December and felt there was a decent chance I would make it and got a 69 but 90% of the posts on here were people stating they felt horrible about the exam and sure enough most of them passed.. so hopefully you are also one of those lucky people, good luck!

I just took the BEC. This was my third attempt at BEC and final section I needed to take. I have passed the other three. But, the glitch is that my AUD score expires tomorrow. So, I had to nail this one out of the park (at least 75) to avoid AUD expiration.
To my disappointment, I had the worst test ever. The first set of 31 MCQ were so difficult. I kept skipping to go to the next question and just kept skipping. When I saw that more than an hour past I knew I needed to start guessing to get into the next 31 MCQ. Luckily they were easier. But, I guess that is not a good sign. That means I probably did horrible on the 1st 31.
Then I finally got to the SIMS with 2 hours left. Yikes. Each and every SIMS I was in tears. One of them needed an experience of an international business owner. No amount of studying would have prepared me for this one. Not only was it too difficult it was extremely long. The written I did fine and had 45 minutes left.
Who thinks I have a chance of passing? If not, I will need to re-take both AUD and BEC. Ugh!

@Kach I hear you!! i took BEC yesterday and my first testlet was so easy, 2nd was harder, 3rd was so easy, 4th was a complete mess with a very weird stock out question and the the 5th took me by surprise, i prepared so much for COSO and ERM for writing and not one question was about it.
Anyways fingers crossed, hope you make it too.

I took the exam on 01/05/19, and I felt the same way about the first testlet. I felt the questions were very wordy and more difficult than the second testlet. It took longer to complete the first testlet and I flagged about five questions. I couldn’t tell what some of the questions were asking. I flagged them and moved on. I came back to them and just guessed. I think Wiley’s review were helpful for the second testlet, but not the first one. The SIMS were doable. On one SIM, I just put in random numbers because I didn't know how to do it.

I just winged the written communications. I watched a video on Youtube and read Rogers CPA advice. I don’t know how I did, but I made sure to put the words in the question key in my memos.
My advice is to know how to do the financial formulas, IT, and COSO. It’s good to know what the ratios mean.

Did any of those of ya'll who took took it this quarter feel like you had an insane amount of IT questions or more calculation based. I'm nervous when I take it here in a few weeks that I will get stuck with a ton of cost accounting questions and calculation based questions.

Please beware to not divulge details of the CPA exam. It is part of our commitment to the exam and not revealing too much.
But without getting into any details, be comfortable with math calculations and study SIMS over and over.
The exam is a beast. Truly!!
I already passed three sections, so it can be done.
